i3 coding

we have had our i3 since Sept 2015 and now I want to change some of the software controlled features. I have the software BMW PSdZData Full 2.54.2 and BMW E-Sys, my interface cable and laptop - ready to go BUT I want some tips on how to proceed without screwing things up. Immediately, I want to increase the fuel to 2.5gal - this is a stupid restriction and I want to enable video play on the center monitor - great to watch a video while I wait for my wife shopping

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Welcome to Bimmerfest! I've moved your question to our BMW i3 / i8 forum, you will get more help in here. We also have a BMW coding forum that you should also explore.

Actually, the best source of information for i3 coding parameters is the Facebook group titled BMW i3. We have a full list of the currently known coding changes there, along with a detailed beginners guide on how to set up E-Sys and connect to the vehicle

If you have more questions, feel free to ask! I have coded a good number of i3s now, and am looking for new features/tweaks when I get spare time.

If you don't feel like doing it yourself, get on the i3 SoCal FB Group and seek out user Cu Sin.

He can remote code whatever option you want as long as you have a Windows laptop and ODBII to Ethernet cable. Latter can be had on eBay for $20.

Having the ability to turn on range extender any time below 75% charge is a big deal to me.

Here is the most up-to-date sheet. Note this sheet does have some errors, some of the coding is not applicable to the i3 or is incorrect due to it being copied from other vehicles. It is still a work in progress by the members of the i3 community

It's not the cheapest option out there but there is a service called www.codemycar.com I just ordered it. They send the cable and they will provide the coding right through your computer for the life of the car. They include coding for everything known right now too. It makes the margin for error smaller and I am all for that.

I just got my coding done today by CodemyCar.com. I am so excited to use the REX toggle option. I think it and the full fuel capacity should absolutely be included in the cost of the car. That being said, a couple hundred bucks to unlock these is well worth it in my opinion.

i3 Coding

If you live in the San Francisco CA Bay Area the person to contact is Adrian at

SFBMWCODING.COM he can enable AM Radio, full use of 2.4 gallon tank, and Hold State of Charge once battery is at 24% or less- and other things

He has coded BMW for years and is an expert now on i3's.

It takes about 15 minutes in your car where he connects his laptop to your car and performs his magic. Prices are very reasonable

These codes make the i3 the car is was meant to be and is anywhere else in the world !!!!

help/questions

Hi Guys,

Well today i had finally had time (away from the wife and kids) to do the long waited coding fo my 2016 I3 Rex. Everything went very well and most of the features in the Code list works with the exception of :

Unlock all doors with engine off (Single-Pull Handles): AKTIV is NOT AVAIALBLE
3040***61664;VAM_UNLOCK_KL15OFF_AFTER_PIA_AUTO_LOC K set to: aktiv

Increase DRL Brightness to be brighter (increases voltage to the LED Bulbs)
Not working
3062 ***61664; MAPPING_STANDL_V_L_PWM_LEVEL_1 set to: 13.7v No Found
3062 ***61664; MAPPING_STANDL_V_R_PWM_LEVEL_1 set to: 13.7v No Found
3062 ***61664; MAPPING_PARKL_1_V_L_PWM_1_LEFT set to: 13.7v Done
3062 ***61664; MAPPING_PARKL_1_V_L_PWM_2_RIGHT set to: 13.7v Done
Found these and change the 100% to 13.7v but nothing :

Can anyone shed some light on these ?

Thanks in advance!

Don, try this instead. They changed the option with the newer software updates.

BDC_BODY > 3041 CLIntegration>CLI_DEFAULT_UNLOCK_AFTER_END_OF_DRIVING

"nur_nach_v_verriegeln" (the doors are unlocked only if they were auto-locked)
"aktiv" (the doors are unlocked whether they were auto-locked or manually locked).

The DRLs have not worked for me either, tried a few different things with no success.

The i3 has single pull handles by default, no need for coding them on unless you wanted all the doors unlocked after every trip.

Instead of this:

MAPPING_STANDL_V_L_PWM_LEVEL_1
MAPPING_STANDL_V_R_PWM_LEVEL_1

Try this:

MAPPING_STANDL_V_L_PWM_LEVEL_STANDARD
MAPPING_STANDL_V_R_PWM_LEVEL_STANDARD

Ok, I don't know then. I think possible, but this will be a lot of Trial and Error on yours or other i3 owners part to find correct codes.

One thing I have noticed when changing the BDC coding is that sometimes the changes don't take effect until after it goes to sleep. Try the following:
Making the changes
Perform the FDL coding
Hitting the disconnect button in ESys
Shut the car off
Roll the drivers window down
Open/close the drivers door
Stick the key outside the car through the window and hit the lock button twice
Then you can put your hand back inside the car.

Wait about 5 minutes, then unlock the doors with the remote and turn the car on, see if your changes took effect.

Hello everyone,

I have a quick question:

I downloaded the last Esys Launcher software, the Data, etc... I configured the whole thing. I have the ODB2 cable, and managed to established connection without any problem.

My problem at the moment: on Don Juan's post screenshot, we can see that he managed to have on Data\CAF\ an .ncd file. Where is this coming from ? My DATA\CAF is empty. The only file I managed to read is via the CAF Viewer, and open the file in C:\Data\psdzdata\swe\cafd , but then I can only read values, not modify.

So basically, I can not use the FDL editor because of this .ncd. Is there a way to generate these .ncd files ? Did I missed something during installation (even though I did follow step by step, without any problem, the user guide for installation) ?

Anyone for a little help please ?

Every time you read an ECU's CAFD file from car, E-Sys generates in the C:\Data\CAF folder the corresponding .ncd file for use with FDL Editor.

WoW that's a quick answer ! Thank you for that.

I'm just a little bit confused. What is the way to read the ECU's so this file is generated then ? I'n don't fully understand the concept (I did read the help file on the software, but still ...) If you can en-light me, that would be much appreciated
