I'm just a little bit confused. What is the way to read the ECU's so this file is generated then ? I'n don't fully understand the concept (I did read the help file on the software, but still ...) If you can en-light me, that would be much appreciated
Right-click on any ECU with a CAFD, and select Read Coding Data.

I'm in my car, laptop on my knees, typing on my smartphone, and I would like to say thank you again.

I realized that I missed THE documentation file to actually read the ECU. Now it makes more sens and I generated all the files.

Thank you again !

Alright, I'm going to give a little feedback here.

First some context: I purchased a brand new i3 from 2016, produced in April 2016. It has the last version of the firmware (I think). I got the car from my dealer on June 15th.

So yesterday, like you noticed, I was trying to modify some values in the code of the car. With the help of shawnsheridan (thanks again), I managed to connect, read the code etc...

So now was the fun (that was I thought). I tried to make a first test:

TEST NUMBER 1
-------------------

- Remove the seatbelt reminders for passengers AND driver's side.

Here is what I modified:
3001***61664;SBR-PreWarning_Fahrer (Driver) Set to: nicht_aktiv
3001***61664;SBR-PreWarning_Beifahrer (Passenger) Set to: nicht_aktiv

I applied the modifications, no error messages on the software BUT weirdly, I received a message on the dashboard nav screen: " error on traction control (ESP), drive slow and check with your dealer later. "

I thought " ok, that's weird". I disconnected the software properly, turned off the car, turned it on again, the message was not here anymore, no problem to start the car.
Test drive time : the seatbelt warning still appeared after approx 30 secondes of driving (or when, I supposed, I reached the speed threshold of 30 km/h).

So... that's a failure. I left it like this, and checked this morning after the car had a long rest over the night : same thing. The seatbelt gong is still present.

TEST NUMBER 2
-------------------

I saw something fun to try yesterday evening : No need to hold the break pedal to start

Modified this:
Start Car by pushing button (hold brake not needed)
3000***61664;TC_STARTLOCK_BRAKE set to: nicht_aktiv
3000***61664;TC_STARTLOCK_DRIVINGREADINESS set to: nicht_aktiv

-> Little scary: I could not start the car AT ALL

Basically, after pressing the Start/Stop button, the car turns on, but impossible to get directly to the " GO " position. I'm not sure if anybody tried it with an i3, and if that's really possible to apply, but I had no success.
Hopefully, reverting the code made the car OK again, no problem anymore. And FYI I also tried to modify the STARTLOCK BRAKE value only, but same result.

I will try again more features today and during the week and see if I managed to apply any of the modification I had on a doc file, and let you know if I had any success. ( I especially want to try the read video while driving, and the Change Mirror Un-Fold Automatically at XX Speed ... We'll see).

Alright !

Little update, it's all good now.

I modified the codes I wanted:
- Seatbelt reminders - Off
- Lights on doors while backing up - Active
- Being able to read Xvid files (and VCD etc..) - Active
- Video player while driving (not for me as a driver, obviously) - Active
- Being able to save video file on internal HD - Active
- Change the I logo with the M logo just for fun but I'll change it back.

Now I can start digging a bit more.

As it was said everywhere, changing parameters for the NAV system, reset all your settings (8 shortcuts).

Thank you again for your help on this I'll report my experience and discoveries (in french) on my blog

Should be:

3000 > ENT_MC_VIDEO_SUPPORT > set to: aktiv

However I have not had much luck getting it to do it. I also run mixed content on my flash drive, both music and video. Maybe it works with just video on the flash drive?

You can only play Video back from USB and not internal Hard Drive.

So it was a myth then. Thank you Shawn for clearing that up

I think I have tried any kind of combinaison to get a special menu to be able to save a video (also tried just having videos on the USB /external HD) but nothing worked so I abandoned the idea.

I've looked through the FB group and for the life of me I can't find the beginner's guide (did find files that had the coding parameters through). I'm about to try to drive from Portland to Seattle and I'm thinking that an extra bit of gas for the REX might be handy...any chance somebody could help me out with a PM for how to code this thing?

Thanks!
