How do you reset the OBD codes
I went for an inspection on my 740i and the camshaft position sensor code came up. How can you reset the OBD with out the scanner. I have ordered the OEM part but I need to get thru inspection. I have heard that you can disconnect the battery and hold the terminals together for a couple minutes. Can I reset the codes and get thru inspection before they reset?

I believe your e38 is obd2, you would need an scanner that resets also, thats the only way you can clear the code.

Thanks for the offer
I'm in the east mountians outside of Albuquerque. I think I have someone to reset it for me. Do you have any idea how far you can drive before it scans the codes again. I just need to get thru inspection |

Usually about 3 miles will bring up all codes - some sooner.l
