You have to remember that a simple repair is going to cost a lot of money, and with these turbo V8 models expect quite a few in the long run esp with the injectors and fuel pumps!

Mercury does do a downpayment and a 0% interest payment plan. my warranty is up 7/14. I need to know how soon before warranty ends do I have to sign up. And does the price go up as my mileage does?

My understanding is that prices always go up after the first of the year as a general rule. And YES, the prices go up as the mileage goes up. Also, as a general rule, in order to get "in-warranty" pricing you have to still have at least 30 days and/or 1000 miles or factory warranty left.

I can vouch for Fidelity coverage. I had it on my Mercedes CL600 twin turbo V12. I was just out of warranty when i purchased the Platinum level warranty for about $6500. Fidelity paid over $45K in claims during the 4 years it was covered. I only racked up another 20K miles during those 4 years, guess it was because it was in the shop so much (grin).

dropped car off yesterday, first time use of the mechanic's warranty from bMW, 5yr 60K miles..100 deductible..let's see what they come back with.

1. OIl burning smell
2. Car shaking (injectors probably)
3. AC/Fan too loud -- this is a odd one, the fan works but it's super loud, they probably won't honor this as they don't honor creeks and noises. Not a big deal..but it makes me think, if the engine is super loud, as long as it works, they won't replace it?

Hopefully you have a good relationship with your Service Advisor, and he has a good rapport with the Tech's, as I have found this essential in getting all claims approved with little argument on the owners part, especially with 3rd party companies.

If you know your fan is louder than another F01/02 model, and they Tech says it sounds fine, simply ask in an non-confrontational way to listen to, and hear, the fan in operation on a similar vehicle they have in the shop and compare.

Also, since it is a BMW warranty you have, chances are, it might be easier for them to file claim and get paid, without having to wait on an adjuster to verify like on a 3rd party Warranty?Insurance. But either way, if a fan is a covered item, seems they'd want to replace it, as it's more $$ for the Service Department.
