Just got booked on the Turandot, leaving Bremerhaven tomorrow. Anyone else on it?

I was told yesterday that my vehicle was being processed for repair and would be released for trucking on Thursday.

Unfortunately on Day 3 of my trip a valet in Monte Carlo ran my car into a curb, chipping a rim and the front ground effect on the vehicle. As such BMW is replacing the rim and the front piece.

I can't wait to get it! Dropped my car off in Frankfurt all the way back on September 27th.

Yep it's from the dealer network system. Just had my VIN pop up and we took the snapshot :)
Closer then ever ....
Maybe I will be really lucky and it will ship this week

We shall see ... the mountain of parts keeps growing ... I may have bought a second car in parts by the time the car gets redelivered from ED :)

As large of a program that this is for BMW, and with all the work they do on the front end to make it such a good experience, it's a shame that they cannot provide us with better information. We understand that you cannot dictate the time it will take to clear customs, but once it does, it should be very easy to have information regarding the vehicle available without having to call or email BMW ED, or wait for your CA to get around to checking it. If we hound them for information it makes us look like children, which IMHO is unfair. It would be nice if they would be more pro-active in this regard. They have the information in their systems, they should give it to us. These are cars that we have already paid for, so I believe we should be entitled to more information.

That probably came off a bit angry (which I am not), to me it's just common sense. If would make their lives easier not having to "deal" with all of us pestering them so much.

It's here! Kind of...

I work about 1000ft from the dealership and saw the truck come in! My car was the last one on it. Talked to the driver and he couldn't believe it, he said it almost didn't make it on the truck but he said "come on man give me one more car!"

Hope they can get it processed today!

I decided to give up on BMW ED and my dealership in regards to getting my updates so I contacted a friend that works at the MINI dealership next door. About 15 minutes after he got my VIN he was able to tell me that my car has been released to the trucking company and will be at the dealership on Thursday. The dealership is installing an Escort 9500ci radar detector and I am shipping the mirror to radar-mirror to get the display installed in the mirror, but I think I may still be able to have my car before Thanksgiving if they can pop the mirror off and get it shipped out ASAP. Fingers crossed :)

And - congrats to all of you that are getting yours, vey excited that we are all getting them within a week of each other. Next time we should all go as a group and plan a European road rally :)

Mind if I ask, what's the whole thing setting you back? Any concerns over legality?

#203 ·
These units are legal where we live in NC. If Im traveling outside of the state, I can turn it off :)

On average you are looking at $1500 for the radar system, $500 for the mirror installation and anywhere from 500 - 1000 for the full installation.

It's a lot, but I know I would leave my old escort in the armrest when I should have it on, and I dont like taking them down, putting them back up, etc.

After driving this car in Europe at over 145 MPH, I think I may have to be reminded when Im being watched :)

I just received an email from the BMW ED group, and they advised that my car was just released to trucking and should arrive at my dealer on or before Saturday.

If it helps for anyone to compare to the status of their car, as of today, mine was still in GA and my dealer is located in Florida. The latest update on WW is "Delivered From" Brunswick, with the date of 11/8. The My BMW page still showing "Finishing Touches".

Good luck to everyone...hopefully there will be several deliveries over the next few days!

I wish BMW ED would return my emails.

Received the form reply about it clearing customs and to try back in a week

Sent another when the week was up...

It's not as if I'm haranguing them and I've been put on ignore. I've sent 2 requests for info.

Dealer is saying the 17th for delivery. Dealer also says it didn't clear customs 'til the 10th, which does not jive with the BMW ED form email I received on the 6th. Contact at the dealer even went so far as to send me a vid of the computer screen with the dealer data...

So, either the Dealer info is BS (Which I doubt), or the ONLY email correspondence I've received from BMW ED is BS.

I'm not mad. I know the car is close, just highlighting the lack of response from BMW ED.

Curious about keeping the ED plates on 'til the US State plates come in.

What do y'all suppose the likelihood of getting pulled over for this?
I have no intention of taking my euro plates off until I am sternly told to do so! There's part of me that would be really interested to see what the cop would say when I hand him the german registration booklet!

I am going to try and register my zoll plate numbers as a vanity tag, which will hopefully let me get by a little longer!

I think having the BMW Niederlassung dealership surround lends some validity to it too! ;)

Received an email from Sirius Radio this morning wanting to confirm my email address.

I'm assuming this means the radio module is some way along the process of being activated. Did anyone else purchase Sirius? If so did you receive a similar email?

My car is still on schedule to hit the dealership today. I have not received notice from my dealership (other than acknowledging my emails telling them it is being delivered today), or from BMW. So just because you haven't heard from them it doesn't mean your car is not on it's way :)

For those of you that are having issues, I would suggest going to the dealership and asking them to run your VIN number in their system. It provides all the info that you would need.

MLEVACK - you deserve better service from your dealership. It is to me ridiculous that they don't keep you updated. During my ED process, I have emailed my guy 2x, he has not only always replied, but emailed me 4-5 more times to check on my ED trip, tell me the status, copied me on emails to the PDC, etc.

I am annoyed for you...

I appreciate it. Once again, Im not angry as much as just disappointed that they dont "get it". If my CA had not transferred after my deal none of this would be an issue (he was great). The CA that has been assigned to me just doesn't seem to care. Perhaps I am misreading them, they just seem a bit nonchalant about it. Ill let them complete the process to see if they can redeem themselves before jumping ship to a different dealership.

I need to vent a little more ( I apologize in advance)

I was told be a friend that works at the MINI dealership that my car had been released to the trucking company, scheduled to arrive at the dealership on Thursday. It's Friday, not a peep from the CA or Sales Manager. I have a feeling that they are all at the local auto show at the convention center. I am about 2 to 3 hours away from going to the dealership and just picking up my car on my own (Ive got a key). The lack of communication is really becoming a point of frustration.

Does anyone know the next title up the chain of command above the sales managers and finance managers?
