Problems engaging 1st
Ever since I had a TSB job done on my clutch, it's gotten tougher and tougher to get the tranny in 1st. I don't see how they're related (unless the dealer screwed up the reinstallation), but it used to be that I'd only have to retry N->1 once a week or less. But since about a month ago, it's basically every time I come to a stop. I have to pump the clutch once or twice before 1st would engage. I have noticed that if the car is still rolling, it's much easier to engage.
I changed the tranny fluid over the weekend to see if that would help, and in fact it doesn't. My biggest problem is that my warranty is out in a week, and I'm afraid the damn stealer is going to blame it on my SSK...

I've got the same issue. In speaking with several mechanics, the consensus is that the clutch going. This is quite expensive...approximately $1K without the flywheel replacement.
By the way, what was the TSB? Do you have the number and description? Thanks. Andrew |

The clutch is new from the TSB (it was for a bad throwout bearing for MY02 cars, actually) so it can't be that, can it?

How many miles on the car?
there is something you can do - change the "lifetime" oil in your gearbox with Redline ATF and all will be good.. dont wait till you have metal flakes in your old oil, or it may be too late.. Oh yeah, chances that it is your clutch are slim, unless one of the springs on it is defective.. |
