Car hit the port in NYC - how long?

mine arived in Charleston on 6/23...

My dealer says it is still in Charleston!!!!

AHHHH!!

Update.........

800 # says "Your car is in transit"

Owners Circle says "At Preperation Center"

Looks good for taking delivery 7/9???

The Turandot has now left and the Trinidad with my M3 is now at the dock.

Sorry for the late response.....I had called BMWNA European delivery, but you should call the 1-800-831-1117 number for general BMW customer relations.

Car arrived @ my dealership on Thursday afternoon! (No damages, thank god!) Stolen: first aid kit, one tool from the tool box & the warning triangle. Floor mats right where I left them though. It rides great, just got back from 4-YEAR inspection. An awesome 4 years with window tints (once I get them installed).

Since your car is already @ the V.P.C., I would call your dealer to see how soon they can get it on a truck, assuming there are no other problems with your car. If you really want to make a full-fledged inquiry, try to poke around by calling the toll number to BMWNA in Woodcliff Lake, NJ. They might be able to connect you to someone in "Corporate". That's what happened when I got very little help from the 800 number to BMW's ED dept.

I spoke to my dealer and they said I should be looking good for July 9th delivery.... So I'm hoping at this point.

Where in NJ are you? Where do you plan to get your windows tinted and how much?

I have come to find that both the 1800 # and the "OC" are not as great as they seem. They are sooooo far behind that I checked both of them and they both said it was at the port, but then my dealer called the next day and said the car had arived and it was time for delivery.

Actually, referring you might help me out. They've been a bit reluctant to do clear protective coverings lately. Another tint customer (in addition to myself) might convince them otherwise.

Its gonna take me some time to get all of this sorted out so, plus all of these add-ons ain't cheap after spending $37K on a car. I'll work on it this week.

The BMW 800 number says my vehicle is "At the port awaiting a shipping vessel"

The BMW Owner's Circle says "Your vehicle is currently Scheduled for or in production. Click here for more information or contact your BMW center for complete details."

W&W shipping line said, on 02JUL05, that they had discharged a vehicle with my VIN from the Turandot in New York/New Jersey.

I expect to be able to provide a dealer update in the next 24 hours or so.

OK, here is an update, I'll give you as many facts as possible so you can relate it to your situation. My car was on Turandot arrived July 1 NY/NJ (the N.E.A.T. terminal) . It is "priority 1", meaning it was identified as "sold" during the production process, which may be expediting the process. My dealer is in Massachusetts, about 40 miles west of Boston, a half-day drive from the NY/NJ terminal.

The dealer expects that I will be driving the car on Friday or Saturday. I go in to pay for it tomorrow, Thursday, afternoon.

Mine was on the Trinidad which arrived on Saturday 7/2 and while the W & W site has not said it was discharged from the vessell the 1-800 number has now said "At the port awaiting a shipping vessel". I will call my dealer later today to see if he has heard anything.

I think your 1-800 status is a little behind, as I also get the "At the port awaiting a shipping vessel" info, andI know that the port they are referring to is Bremerhaven -- not stateside!!

No you are incorrect. My car arrived on SAturday aboard the Trinidad - I saw it out my apartment window. The 1-800 status up to that point said en route, today it changed to awaiting shipping vessel which actually means its waiting for a transporter in this case.

Hmmm? Before it said "Enroute" did it also say "Awaiting Shipping Vessel"? Maybe the same cue is used for both the port of exit AND the port of entry? I know mine is still in Germany. I WISH it was here -- like yours. Enjoy

Those E.D. turnaround times are really something, huh? Could be another week or so for you though, Larry. Mine landed on the 19th and I got it this past Thursday afternoon (the 30th). The car is awesome!

Paid for it today, the delivery schedule turned out to be BS . The car has been sitting at the VPC until yesterday, MAY arrive tomorrow (Friday), and then they expect the Cerificate of Origin not to arrive until next week, so if I'm lucky, I'll take delivery next Tuesday. Would have been better to have stuck to realistic expectations. However, the dealer will probably provide a loaner car tomorrow, so it's not all bad.

Question for those who have experience ordering an e90 in the U.S. Dealers in the Washington, DC area are saying to allow 8 weeks for an ordered e90. In your experience is 8 weeks (a) conservative; (b) optimistic; or, (c) about right?

I'm still unsure whether or not my car was unloaded from the Trinidad in NYC or Charleston, SC? Remember the Wallenius Wilhelmsen site lists the port of destination as Charleston not NYC.

bookman2 - Mine was listed as port of destination as NY and although the Wallenius site still does not say it disembarked, I know it did as it is on its way to the dealer.

Johnfkitchen, why are you not collecting your car when you pay for it? and what is the deal with the cetificate of origin?

My dealer said that if the car arrives today they will have time to install the bluetooth and alarm and I should be able to pick it up tomorrow with a casheirs check.

My dealer called and the car is there!! It will be read for picking up Monday afternoon - can't wait!!!
