Mein Auto: working on it
Check Engine Light turns on @ about 40mph

My CEL turns on at about 40 mph for some reason.

Went to autozone and it wasn't spitting out any codes at that time. (Granted because I wasn't going over 40mph)

Check my gas cap and other common failures but im lost for what the cause could be.

First, it would help to know what you drive. Next, what is the mileage? And last, you can't get stored codes from Autozone. You need a BMW scanner.

I drive a 2010 335i e92. 75k miles. Had a mechanic tell me one time the turbo hose was broken, but the cel isnt always on. Perhaps the cel only turns on after it reads the boost is lower than it should be.

Autozone must have killer advertising. People still go there for the code readout! But I got the cure for that, laddie: [click here]

Never assume, lol. At what mileage were the plugs replaced and have you ever had a walnut blast?

If you can't figure it out and the engine is running well, get a crayon and block the CEL out.before it drives you nuts. Damn codes.
