MKII Nav PROBLEMS

Hello everyone!

This is my first post on the board and would like to say how much I have enjoyed reading some of the threads I've seen so far.

My question/problem is.... I have a 2000 540i 6 speed with a MKII Nav and DSP system that is giving me a fit.

The symptoms are:

1) Screen displaying a picture almost like vertical lines on a TV set with out a picture.

2) Radio/CD changer cuts out on me after a few minutes of play. The only way to get it going again is to turn the system off and back on again to only have it happen again. This is still with out a picture

3) The rear CD Nav Unit ON and CD in light is not lit at all but there is power to the unit.

4) CD will not come out.

What I have done so far to fix the problem:

1) Pulled the fuses out.

What happened right before experiencing the problem:

1) The battery went dead and had to jump to re-start car.

Thatís all I can think of at the time. Thanks in advance for the all comments and help.

Try a new battery. Sounds weird, but funny electrical things crop up when you need a new one.

did it get wet? how did you yank the fuses? if you pulled the fuses (cut power) to the Nav before it stops spinning (takes about 2 or 3 minutes even if you shut the car down), it'll damage it (not all the time but it's very possible).
it could also be a dead/dying battery. try charging it (with a trickle charger) overnight and see what happens.

You could be right! I the little green light that supposed to light up on the factory battery isn't there! Plus itís a possibility that the battery is the original to the car. I brought the car used.

Thanks

No it didn't get wet but you are on to something, my battery did go dead on me and I had to charge it up one night. I will look into the possibility of the battery!

Thanks
