Question on service indicator light

Hi Everyone,

I have a 330i and am almost hitting 16K on my odometer. I'm waiting for the service indicator light to come on so I can bring it in to have the service 1 done on the car at the dealership.

The only thing that pops up is the oil service indicator that says I'm at 2,500 past for service. I'm waiting on that since I had the oil service done at 1year/10K mileage mark.

What do you think is causing this delay for the service light to come on.

Or would it be okay to just bring it in to the dealer to have the service done since I passed the 15K mark. I'm hoping they don't say "we can't do the service, since the light hasn't kicked on".

I definitely have to bring it in to either have the brakes bled or pads replaced since my brakes feel really mushy.

Would appreciate your opinions as to how to handle this.

What's your overall mileage? The service indicator, IIRC, is based on how much fuel is consumed (somewhere in the neighborhood of 600-700 gallons), so if you're doing better than 25 mpg over the life of the car, you may not be there yet.

Still, just call some dealer service departments and explain your situation. They'll probably just say bring it in.

Actually I just passed 16,000 miles, my average mileage is aroud 19-21 since there is a strong mix of city with highway. If I do a bunch of highway, then I hit 27 mpg, but that's very rare.

I'll call the dealer and see what they say...thanks alot.
