Trying to turbo my E30

Im starting to gather parts to turbo my E30. Ive been told I dont need to do any engine mods until I pass the 10psi mark. Im planning on running a max of 7psi so I guess thats ok.

So far Im getting a manifold in a week or so. but other than that I dont know what else is involved in turboing my car. I can either import a skyline R32 turbo (inline 6 2.6L) or a saab 9000 turbo (I6 2.4L). Any other suggestions?

The parts I know I need are:
turbo
manifold
fuel pump
injectors
intercooler
misc (oil lines, tubing, etc etc)

what else?

turbo..

Definetly go with the saab turbo...or even an audi turbo the ko..stay german.all the way you will need a bov and wastegate. You will most likely have to make custom tubing for the intercooler etc..

hers a link that will provide you with reliable information

you willl probably need to re-route some mass air sensors, becasue i had a buddy who turboed his and was running super rich for a long time, becasue of the mass air flow sensor problems. Also if turboing gets to complicated you can always get a super charger kit(rotex) at lowendesign.com. It supposedly adds 70-80 hp.

thanks for the info. I was thinking of getting a new mass airflow system. But well see. the information you guys gave me has given me alot to think about. Im trying to put together an ok turbo that i can upgrade later for under $1000.

most of the parts I can get junkyarded for cheap but some things im not skimping on. I want a good new intercooler for starters. New fmu and such. thanks again.

Can't Wait

I also want to turbo my E30. I can't wait to here how it works out, especially what kind of difference you feel with 7psi boost. I won't be upgrading for a little while(money ) but I have been asking around. One thing I can think to mention is...If you have your E30 chiped, then it will need re-tuning, and if you plan on geting one later be sure to have it calibrated for a turbo. Write back with any news/questions/pointers.

I didnt think about the ecu chip... hmm. I dont really think it would make much of a difference tho. just a bit in the tuning. Ill keep that in mind. thanks. Im prob not going to have this done till the beginning of next year tho. im also short on cash. Im just getting a jump on it because another e30 owner that already turboed it is making me a manifold for $20. so im stoked.

Do not buy from www.lowendesigns.com The owner has repetitively taken money and not delivered goods. Do a google search on lowendesigns.

If you want some good turbo info check here at www.e30tech.com
