328I RADIO- "PHONE" ERROR MSG
I have a 1997 328i. The radio slowly stopped working so that the LED reads "PHONE" all the time now. I have tried disconnecting the battery to reset it but that did not work. Any suggestions?

I have a 97 M3 that just started doing this also. It has the HK with CD changer option. The radio comes on at first with sound, then 30s later it gives a "PHONE" message and mutes. I've completed a few searches to no availe so any help would be appreciated. Thx

well i am really new with bmw's, but i was reading my manual today, and came across a section about the in car phone that some models come with (my 325is came with one) anyways, it said whenever there is an incoming call, it automatically mutes the sterio system... so im pretty sure it has something either to do with the wiring, or you have a phone call!!!
anyways, this is as much help as i can offer you, so take it for what its for. ^^ btw-good luck

If only it were that simple, but my M3 was not equiped with the factory cell phone. But I did disc the battery for a few min's and that seems to have cleared it for the moment.
