May 20th ED pictures and write up!!

Dear guys-

I know its been over two months, I finally got a chance to sit down, compile my pictures, and put them up on the web:

My engagement and European Delivery pictures

It was a short trip: 8 total days, 6 days of driving, 1300 miles, 4 countries and a principality! We all had a blast and can't wait till we get a chance to do this again!

Thanks to all who have shared their experiences and knowledge. It really made our trip a lot more enjoyable.

Enjoy the pictures!

Shafi

Very cool! Nice pics!

Rochester MN is a nice place, my in-laws live and work there. Next time I get sick I'm going to the Mayo Clinic!

Nice write-up and pics. Shafi, many many congrats.!
Excellent that you got to drive the San Bernardino pass route in an M3 no less!!
I started my M3 ED along the same route-some of the best roads and scenery I have ever driven.
Was your marriage arranged by family in India? (No pressure to answer if you don't care to)

Thanks for the comments guys!

emdrei- driving through the San Bernardino pass was wicked! I'm not exactly sure how, but there was construction in the area, and we got detoured onto a very narrow two lane road... the kind of road that is confortable for one car at a time, and if there is on-coming traffic, you have to really move to the right. But we were still going pretty fast..you had to keep up the pace. The europeans aren't to patient with slow movers.

Alot of the driving really reminded me of video games like need for speed...really picturesque, tight winding roads, and the occasional porsche GT3 that passes you in a rush of sound and a blur in the eye.

As for my engagement, our families introduced us, but there was no pressure at all for us to get together or get engaged. They just let things alone to happen naturally

Mein Auto: Few cars
I think I see my car right outside the delivery center. Why are those Germans taking my beast for a ride?

Congrats on the wedding and the car. Very nice pictures, I really like the fact that you let your dad drive the car out . In a week we pickup a M3 CB/cinnamon and guess what, we have a huge wedding on Aug 21.

I also Picked up my car on May 20, I was at the delivery center at 7:15 in the morning, and I also took the Factory tour that Friday at 13:00 in Munich.
We must have met, I had a black 750Li but I do not remember seeing you. I was there with my dad who is 81 years old, and he could not manage to complete the factory tour and waited at the employee restaurant for the tour to complete.

I love your pictures, it looks like you had a great time

We must have just missed eachother. I went on the 6 PM factory tour, and was at the delivery center at 8AM. Bernhard really took his time to go over everything well, and I think we finally left around 10:30 or 11:00 am. Were you also staying at the Marriot?

Engagement mubarak, yaar!! Car's not too shabby either. Real nice of you to take your parents along. Must have been a blast to drive through there. I picked up on May 20th too. I've been so busy with everything else, I haven't had a chance to do a write up. After all the help everyone extended me, I owe it to the team.

You've got to do this again, for your honeymoon. But, I bet you've already thought that through.

Very nice pictures thanks for sharing. Better late than never. I have many co-wokers who are Indian, extremely great people. I sat in that same table you did at the delivery center. There are only about 2 tables downstairs. Enjoy the car.

Alstoy- Thanks! Like you guessed, I am seriously leaning towards going back for the honeymoon!! Still have to hammer out some details...it might be a strong possibility. You have to put your pictures together and post them.

Yamilrx- yeah, Indians tend to be pretty laid back...that is until you start talking smack about their cricket team! I never understood the sport, but there are some who will sit and watch that stuff for DAYS.

Later

I was at the delivery center until 9:30, we must have seen each other, I was sitting upstairs in the caffiteria with another couple who got a silver 750Li, they opened the caffiteria at 8:00
either way it is a small world, the place was packed that friday, there were Germans there too picking up cars, I am wondering what they were all about, I thought this was only a European delivery center for Americans.

Me too, I was wondering about all the Europeans. Bernhard mentioned to me that the center is also where BMW employees pick up their cars...including bikes.

Next time I go there I will pay more attention to the smaller details everyone mentioned, and perhaps say hello to a few board members. I want to do a December or January pickup.
