I'm the (un)lucky accidental owner of a BMW (Decker) TrafficPro system, which came in my 2001 Z3 that I just bought. I'm trying to get it to work with a BMW CD Changer (well, actually, I'm trying to do more than that, but the rest is a longer story), and having no luck. Here's a picture of my head unit:
It is a BMW unit, saying BMW in big letters when turned on, and having "BMW Traffic Pro" on the front of the unit. More pictures and the full story of my ordeal is on my website I've seen another thread that indicates that a wiring harness may be neccesary to get it to work with the BMW CD Changer - can anyone provide any further info on this? My unit was in my car when I bought it, and is a factory install, but it's the only one the dealer has ever seen. To make things better, it came with no manual. What adapter do I need to hook up to the BMW CD Changer? I entered the Service Menu on the Traffic Pro, and got this information: Brand Name: Becker Aut. Sys. Model-No:HW=USA SW=USA BE 4771 CD00 o Serial No: Y50000xx CD CDP2088 Radio Software: 25/04/01 Radio Bolo: 05/31/99 Navi ROM/LIB: 305 / 350 Navi Flash: 555 |

Wrong HK adapter cable is my guess
My unit is a BE4771
Ser# 15000089 BMW 65 90 0 139 889 Check to see if your HK adapter cable that goes between the head unit and stock BMW connector has the CD part in it as shown in the following pic. The BMW part number for the E46 adapter cable I received is 65 90 0 139 624.

Thanks...
Ron - does yours say "BMW" when it is turned on? I've read that most of them don't, but mine does. I'll post pics tonight.
Thanks for the info on the wiring harness. I'll attempt to remove it this evening to check that out... if I can figure out how to remove the head unit. The service department at my BMW dealership was stumped, hopefully I can figure it out. |

Tools? Mine didn't come with tools...
Mine came with no tools... Where could I get these from? I believe I have the radio code, it was a 5 digit code that came on a card with the car.
But the tools are long gone. Any thoughts? |

After hooking it up permanently, this is no longer available. Last edited by Ron Stygar; 08-17-2002 at 06:40 PM. |

I can make the menu 2 color schemes
There's a menu selection for the color scheme, I have it so that it reverses itself when my headlights are on - mostly so I know that my headlights are on :-)
Last Friday, a person at Becker contacted me and wants me to call him back Monday, so hopefully they can help me out. Rachel says they're helpful, and I take her word for it ;-) Thanks for the help yall, and I'll post an update if I get this straightened out. |
