G'day guys wondering if you can help me out?
I just recived my short shifter in the mail for my 97 1.9 z3 roadster now my question: is the short shifter supposed to have a bend in it or be completly straight?

Should be bent back and towards the driver on a left hand drive car. The following pic shows the stock lever which is used in both left and right hand drive cars.
Is the one you received bent or straight?

The bent is mostly for ergonomic purposes. There are certain vendors that sell short shift kits that are straight. The main draw back is the shifter will now be FURTHER away from you and on odd gears (1, 3, 5) the shifter or rod may bump up against the top of the shiftgate (not likely).

Who did you buy your short shift kit through?

I would. Maybe they will exchange it for the correct one.
If you want, I can make up a kit for you. Email me for details.
