Stuck with a radio button...

Well I purchased a new OEM radio valume button at the rate of 6$, because my old one has had a faded colour for the past year.

Problem is, the old one simply refuses to come out! Tried pulling and pulling, no luck.

If I pull some more the whole deck is gonna come out.

Any ideas before I start cutting it?

It is either friction-fit (pull to remove) or there's a setscrew holding it in. I don't think BMW uses them (they're kind of old-fashioned). Look around the circumference of the knob for a hole with a tiny screw in it to make sure.

Of course it is friction fit. All 3 series (and most modern BMWs) volume buttons are.

How about using a little leverage.

Button came out after some rough pulling...bad news, I ordered the wrong one. Seems like there was a different button fro 1999's and different for 2000s.

Well, good news is that the old button was a piece of cake to clean up and make it looking like new.

It seems as if it is made of rubber, so just rubbing it abit will make it in as new condition. I have put it next to the new one, and the old one looked more new!!!

Great news.
