Hello,

I was able to get in touch with Rolf via-e-mail. He responded two days after I e-mailed him. He replied with a confirmation and meeting instructions. Looking forward to the trip.

Please keep in mind that Rolf has been an active member of Bimmerfest for many years.

As a result, it is possible that an older post on this forum has an obsolete e-mail address for him. That has resulted in the lack of a reply since he won't get such e-mails. Beewang will try to edit such posts when we find them (so if you see a post with a web.de address, please let me know).

The current address is rolf.raffelsieper@yahoo.de. Rolf always replies quickly to his e-mails at this address.

Just wanted to comment how helpful Peter was in transportation for my delivery last week. Unfortunately Rolf was busy but he sent Peter instead to pick me up from the airport and take me to Welt the next morning. Peter went out of his way to make sure my quick but short stay was filled with things to do around Munich. He sat with me for at least 20 min in my hotel lobby going over multiple maps and brochures making sure I knew where everything was.

I contacted Rolf a couple of days ago about picking up my wife and I on 11 May for transport from the airport to the Munich Marriott. He replied within 24 hours and said he will be there in his 3 Series wagon. I'm looking forward to meeting him!

I saw Rolf three times yesterday. He brought me to the airport and then, when my flight was delayed due to fog and I decided to stay another day, he picked me up and brought me back to the Vier Jahreszeiten, which found a room for me despite being sold out (yet another big conference is going on in Munich).

Later on, around 20 Uhr, I was with Chris Stampfer (European Editor of The Diesel Driver magazine) at the BMW Welt having dinner and I looked down and there he was.

I am planning my ED trip and just stumbled onto this thread...

Based on what I've read, is it just me or does Rolf sound like Jason Statham's character in The Transporter? You know, cuz he's a driver and he drives a BMW in Europe? And all these people know him and use him for his "transportation" services? lol, maybe it's just me...

I don't think he's ever asked about the cargo....

Rolf is far from a Jason Statham. He is a very nice man in the 70's I believe. Well, he does have one trait in common with Statham in the Transporter...3 years ago when he picked me up he was telling me how he had recently fathered another child with his new wife! He knows how to keep his heart rate and other things up!

You're confusing Jason Statham movies (sad that I know this). You're thinking of Crank, where he has to keep his heart rate up. His character in Transporter is a professional driver in Europe that people use for very "special" jobs b/c of his precise nature and excellent driving abilities... not unlike what I've read about Rolf... except the whole former special forces thing...

Plan B? Rolf just emailed me to inform me he was already booked for next thursday morning. any sugestions for a back up? Not a huge crisis, I can always take a cab. Serves me right for waiting 'til the last minute.

You're coming in Thursday and taking delivery on Friday. Depending upon where you are staying and how much luggage you will have, have you thought about the S-Bahn/U-Bahn? That's what we're going to do.

Yes, we're arriving thursday AM and going to the Welt on friday, so no big rush. there will be three of us with 5 pieces of luggage. what is the S-Bahn?

If your luggage is manageable and if your hotel (I assume that will be your first stop) is near a S or U Bahn station (Google Map your hotel) that is a decent alternative. The S1 and S8 are the lines at the airport. You have to transfer to all others. If you take the SBahn buy a single partner airport ticket. You'll save some $ vs. buying 3 individual tickets.

There is also the Lufthansa Airport Bus if your hotel is near the main train station.

I emailed Rolf last week regarding pickup on September 16, 2011 for my ED and within 2 days, I was booked and confirm by Rolf...all via email

I got Rolf for next week! OMG I AM GOING TO BE IN GERMANY NEXT WEEK!!!!

The Welt is at the Olympic-zentrum stop on the U-3 line. Depending where you are staying, you can make most connections at the Hauptbahnhof or Marienplatz.

Has anybody had any luck contacting Rolf lately? I emailed him over 1 week ago with no response. I took the Lufthansa bus during my last ED. It was convenient last time since the Le Meridien is right across the street from the Hauptbahnhof, but my hotel this time will require a train transfer this time and was hoping Rolf would be available. It's no fun bringing luggage onto the train. Thanks.

Here's a recent picture of Rolf when he picked us up at the airport and drove us to the Munich Marriott on May 11. We asked him to pose for a picture in the lobby of the Marriott. At the last minute, clowning around, he grabbed the "Guest Relations" sign on the concierge desk:



We found him to be very gracious and funny. When leaving the airport he took us by LOGINOUT and showed us where it was located. At the hotel he sat with us in the lobby and showed us various places in and outside of Munich and offered lots of suggestions of where to go and told us how to get to BMW Welt from the Marriott via the U-Bahn.

We found it surprising that he apparently used his scooter (think Razor) to get from where he parked to Terminal 2. That is, until we found out that they're quite common in BMW plants to get from one place to another. We even saw a 3-wheeled scooter (2 front, 1 rear) with a basket on the front that's used to transport parts.

Shot an email to Rolf a few moments ago about a hopeful pickup on the 22nd.

Rolf was fantastic for me. He somehow managed to fit the luggage of 4 people (including 2 women) into his 3er Wagon. He was a great guy and I think his price was a fair deal.

Rolf was very patient with us. He waited over an hour at the airport, as our luggage did not make the connecting flight. His tips and knowledge were very helpful.

Found out that he speaks fluent spanish, as well...

Just sent Rolf an e-mail asking if he's available Monday 12 September. Hopefully he's free -- I've read every post in this thread, and am so looking forward to meeting him. Planning to bring him some goodies from San Francisco too.
