Rolf Contact Information

Aawww man. Rolf is going to be in Spain during the time I'll be in Munich. He's trying to get in touch with Peter to handle pick-up. For those of you who have used both Rolf and Peter, is it worth having Peter pick us up or should I just resort to the LH Shuttle or S-Bahn?

Rolf wasn't available when we picked up our 550i in 2006. Peter was our contact and he was a wonderful host. He knows a lot of information about the area and BMW. Peter comes highly recommended. Ask him if he still has his Fire Department shirt that I gave him.

OK, who is the Bimmerfest VIP who stole Rolf from me on 7/7? Rolf is trying to get hold of his colleague, I assume Peter from this thread. Two week countdown for me!

My Daughter and I are scheduled to arrive in Munich
at 9:45 on the 16th.
What time is your flight due?

FYI - Rolf is on holiday in Spain from July 30th to Sept 12th. He's having Peter pick me up on Sept 6th. 55 Euro's is a bit steep but it's standard practice in Munich and we get better treatment with Rolf/Peter.

As posted above, this is the best way to reach Rolf and confirm his (or Peter's availability). He responded to my email within 36 hours (while on vacation).

hmm, when i emailed him a month ago he told he will be on vacation, peter wasn't available either apparently for 9/6? current plan is to take the lufthansa shuttle for €12 pp

Take the S-Bahn if each person in your party can manage his own luggage. It's only €19.60 for up to 5 people. It's good for the entire day on any S-Bahn, U-Bahn, and trolleys throughout the city network.

Huzzah! Rolf just sent me an e-mail from Spain letting me know he's returning from holiday a day early and will be available to pick me up at MUC on 12 September after all! I've canceled my limo and am now on the books with Rolf! Woo hoo!

Rolf just arranged for Peter to pick us up for Sept 19. He was very responsive, even while on holiday in Spain.

Emailed him last night and he replied this morning. He'll be picking Mrs 1stB and I up when we arrive from London. yayyyy!

Didn't work for me. I emailed Rolf several days before out flight. I did not get a reply and did not worry about it or give Rolf a call. I figured Rolf would be there at Munich airport, sign in hand. Guess what? I was wrong. I finally took a regular taxi to my hotel at almost double Rolf's rate. Next time I will be more careful.

Rolf is the MAN of my ED pickup on 9/17. He pick us up as promise and even bring me to get a data/voice SIM card from MUC and wait for me to finish about 45 minutes. He brought us to the Hotel, which is a bit off Munich and then pickup and drop off us to the Welt next day...he is the MAN

Thought I'd add a picture of Peter and his wagon as he picked us up at the Munich airport on Sept 6th. Very nice, guy -- highly recommended. I wish I took his advice and picked up the Swiss/Austrian Vignette's and Yellow emergency vests at the local ADAC beforehand. Once we landed, I was just too anxious to get to the Welt and see the car. In hindsight, it would've been easier to have the Vignette's with me at the Welt so I could've applied them to the windshield with care. One of my vignettes was applied at an angle as I hurried it at the gas station. Oh well....

Peter picked us up from the airport with this wagon. Very nice fellow. Gave me all sorts of pointers about driving in Europe. Sat at the hotel and discussed our trip itinerary. He gave us more pointers which proved to be quite helpful. He pointed out that three blocks from the hotel was the ADAC, European version of AAA, where I walked and purchased safety vests and vignettes out trip; also got some free maps. So much easier to apply this stickers at the Welt, then a gas station along the way.
Peter also picked us up from our hotel and brought us to the Welt on delivery day. Was awesome time. Saw Rolf with him at the airport, but Rolf was already booked by Merlosso. Saw Rolf when we were flying out of town too. Nice fellow as well. I wanna do their jobs when I retire!

Rolf picked us up at MUC last night. He was wearing a Bimmerfest t-shirt which made him easily recognizable. Tomorrow he's driving us to the Welt (said he'll take us ADAC to get the vignette and safety vest first). Sat down with my wife and I at the hotel for a good while after dropping us off to show us where to go/what to do today.. Great experience.

Vignettes are toll sticker you put on your windshield. You need to pay a highway toll to drive on the autobahns in Austria and Switzerland. If you are driving from Germany into Austria, you have to stop at the rest stop and purchase one -- you can purchase a 10-day sticker in Austria whereas in Switzerland you have to purchase a one-year sticker. You can google and get the exact price.

If you are traveling in Switzerland during the summer, I found that turning your GPS to "avoid tolls" you will see some really scenic views vs. being on the highway.
