Are you selling this or considering one? I'm not too crazed by K&N...A couple of buddies and myself screw around with nitro fueled RC monster trucks, and I paid around $40 for a K&N air filter for one of my trucks..only for it to completely wear out the motor within an hour..Even though it was a dusty track, out of the 2 1/2 years of fooling with these trucks, I have never gone through a motor like that...I also had a clear rubber intake tube, in which showed evidence of the dirt that was getting through the filter...I contacted K&N about it(just to be anal) and they had nothing to say to me...I was out $300...So the conclusion of the story is, unless I'm doing any kind of super/turbo charging...I'll reconsider putting one of those on my car...The cpu does have to compinsate for that filter change and I highly doubt you'll get a 18 horse increase...JMO

18 horse power is a little far fetched but it does seem to be a little more agressive from the start. R/C car's aren't they a little diffrent, they never make it more than six months before having to replace most of it.???? Engine's love the free unrestricted flow of AIR.

Well if I'm driving it, not much longer after engine breakin...But there aren't too many things that can survive a 15ft launch into an endo, head-ass wipe out...But the fact that the air filter let in small dirt debris is what turned me off of K&N...The filter, was an actual, legitimate K&N air filter...just a small size cone with the same material as for an auto...Probably the same exact filter that they make for weed eaters...But K&N do make WOT alot louder, which pretty much means, less starvation...Just consider WOT in a dusty area..is all..

I was also looking into a few diffrent exausts that were a little less restrictive and ideas.

The shop locally sell them for $240+shipping and K&N 69 for $220+shipping.

I was considering it until I heard about Streamline Foam replacement. It was mention somewhere on M3forum.net that M3 airbox was designed by William F1 design team. Streamline support to increase throttle response while retaining velocity and volume for the entire rev range.

I've been looking into it a little for the upcoming race car configuration, and we'll probably go with the AFE unit - although the K&N unit does get a lot of mention as a good value.

Streamline Foam replacement. What is have never heard of it.

I've heard nothing good about K&N's for the s54.... If you actualy go and take a look at the filter cone, you can almost see through the damn thing... it just makes me wonder what else is going to get through it. I'd be careful.

As for the 18hp gain, read this To Mod or Not to Mod it gives a pretty good idea of what you can and can't do to increase the hp on an s54 powered M3. Best of luck!
