I tagged along with my uncle to meet his old friend, a "BMW test driver" as I was told. Throughout our conversion, he mention that M5 V10 has been tested here for almost two years, in different forms.

The first time he drove the car was a Lincoln Conti-with V10 stuffs in it. Then a while later they put it in regular E39 540i to test it out.

The new M3-V8. The test was done in Mohave desert. He was driving S54 MCoupe as the test driver from Germany drove E36 M3. To his surprise, E36 M3 would out accelerated him, pass him on the high speed run. The only thing he was told was 4.0 V8. It was scary fast.

If you listen to him for the first time, it would be hard believe as he seemed to "add" too much color into the story. But regardless of what we said, he gets to drive the "ultimate machine" before we do.---darn lucky bastard!!!

Well, most auto manufacturers around the world do test in the Mojave and Death Valley for high temp testing.

But why would BMW stuff the V10 in a Lincoln???? E39 I could see. And why test the V8 in an E36????

I asked him the same question. Why the Lincoln? What he said was "there are cars that the company wants you to see and those that are just for testing purpose".

I request for a ride along next time he is going out there. Even offer my '05 ZCP for him to use. We'll see.
