A simple Bluetooth Question

I've scoured this board, the "other" board and X5world. A tremendous amount of valuable info, but I'm still not clear. I have a 2004 (12/03) 3.0 with Nav, Premium, Sport, DSP, Cold weather, etc, etc. I currently have a V60c installed in the center console with a snap in adapter (CPT9000) cradle with the BMW bumper antenna. It works well, no issues. However, I'm with Verizon and would like to purchase a V710 (I need the tri mode as I frequently camp outside of digital areas or I'd go with e815) and install the 05 Assist/Bluetooth TCU with the snap in adapter. I've read it works with 03/04 and up builds but can't seem to find conclusive answers on whether it will work for me? The phone is essentially free as I'm due an upgrade and in addition to the bluetooth, I'd also like the upgraded features. I'm willing to fork out the dollars for the TCU and cradle but don't want to do that until I'm sure it will work. I also have a Nextel Blackberry 7520 with Bluetooth I use for work that would be nice to pair just to make and receive calls. I don't really care about downloading the phonebook on the Berry as I've read it may not work. I would like to maintain the Assist as I've already renewed this year. Sorry for the lengthy post but I hope someone can clarify whether this will work or not as my local dealer doesn't have a clue...Thanks!

According to what I've read on this, the Motorola BT/Assist combo will only work for X5's manufactured from 03/04 or newer. Since yours was built in 12/03 then you are left with a choice of either keeping Assist and foregoing Bluetooth, or installing the Visteon Bluetooth module and foregoing Assist. You'll have to decide which is more important to you.

I have a 04 X5 4.4 02/04 noNav and purchased the V710 and lastest BMW TCU, would not work. So I got the 05 BMW Assist/TCU and it works fine. There was a law suit against Verizon where I can return the V710 for full credit and get a E810. As I understand the E810 will work with BMW TCU or you can get the BMW Assist/TCU (list price $950) I got mine for about $500
I would check with the dealer before spending $, my dealer Sterling BMW Newport is pretty good if you're in this area.
I think the E810 is a redo of the V710 and would encourge you to get that one, I plan to get the E810

Good Luck!

one more thing.....give the dealer your VIN # and they will tell you if the 05 BMW Assist/TCU will work in your car. Wasn't suppose to work in my car either.
