A previous owner put them on because they cost less - more a passenger car tire.

X3 Tires

I have a 2007 X3 that I recently purchased tires for. The existing original Pirelli Scorpions were at 53K miles. Bought the car last summer ('11) and the ride has been terrible. Bumpy enough to have people tell me they were getting carsick in backseat. I was hesitant to go with Pirellis again after reading blog below. However I went with Pirelli P Nero and so far I own a completely different car. The ride is 100 times better with the softer sidewall tire. Don't know how it will wear yet, but the first day I used them it was raining and the tires handled well. Very Happy.

Tire Preference for '04 X3 2.5i?

Alright so a couple years back, I decided to purchase an '04 X3 with approximately 140k. Currently the car is running great! Really no severe problems with it besides a few hiccups. I'm in the market for replacing my old tires which came with the car when I first bought it. I'm planning to keep the for another year or so.

Any suggestions on purchasing tires or how I should go about researching for tires?

The consensus for all around performance and quiet is the Michelin Primacy MXV4. Your car probably came with the Michelin Pilots.
