I have owned a 03 M3 Coupe and my current 04 M3 coupe. My daily driving is a mix of about 50% city and 50% highway miles. On both cars, I have averaged 20.0 to 20.2 mpg.

I'm up to 49K miles on my 2003 M3 Coupe already, much of that is my daily roundtrip commute of around 60 miles. With that mixed in, I average 20-22 mpg, have seen as high as around 25-26 on a highway trip, as low as around 15 with nothing but short trip/stop and go. For comparison, my 330I/ZHP was only about 1-2 mpg better.

Holy Crap! I had no idea M3s had such poor gas mileage. I figured they were up around 25 mpg average.

I've never seen anything as low as 11-13 MPG. The suburban in traffic driving I do puts me at about 18 MPG. I've seen around 25 MPG on the road.

I get 7 mpg on the track; 14 mpg in town; and 25 on the highway. I've seen as high as 28 mpg if the speed is under 80 mph (not often under 80 though).

I've been getting about 20 - 21 mpg with mixed city & Highway driving, plus going up and down some hills where I live.

You do realize there is a Gas Guzzler Tax on the M3 right?

There's a sweet spot around 77 or 78 mph, according to the obc, that gives the best mileage (it's a boring drive from Ohio to VIR).

I get around 8 or 9 mpg on track, 20 mpg mixed city/highway.

Boy you do need more traction. If you could get on the throttle sooner, you'd go even faster and burn even more fuel.

My '05 has 4900 miles on it. I get 22.5 MPG consistantly. Mostly 80+ MPH highway mileage.

I got 24 driving from spartanburg home, mixed blue ridge pkwy with 80-100 on the highway but no revs above 5500.

Now with mixed mountain, a bit of suburbia, and highway it averages 20-21. That means twisty mountain roads 3 and 4th gear full throttle with some shifts near redline. Most Highway entrances taken at full tilt and 80-90 when running on highway.

I do mostly city driving and have averaged 16.0 (up from 15 not too long ago) according to my OBC.

I used mine for commuting and routinely got between 24.5 and 25.5mpg. I once saw 26.5mpg on the computer and after doing the math it came out to 26mpg. So it does quite well at 80mph cruising down the freeway. BUT, once you open up the six throttle bodies and feed the engine mpg deteriorates at a rapid pace. On weekends when I was having fun I got around 15mpg. At DEs I got about 5mpg.

It all depends on how you drive it, specifically how you use your right foot. It CAN get well over 20 MPG, but if you start playing, you will get MUCH less. Just like ANY car, much less any performance car.

Just got back from a trip across WI and got 29 calculated while the OBC said 30.1. The cruise was set at 74mph with some passes up to around 90mph.

333 HP doesn't come for free...

I get ~19.5 general mixed highway/around town comuting and 24 at 75 on the highway (no cruise control). All according to the OBC. I've had my '05 ZCP for about 2 months and the mileage is actually a bit better than I thought. Only a few MPG less than my 330i. I don't don't baby it either.
