New 525i Owner Radio Code Problem

I picked up a 1993 525i Sunday and it is simply awesome. Anyway. i have been reading through the forums and fully understand what I am supposed to do about the 5 digit radio code. I have the business cd system. i went to the local dealer and gave them my serial # off of the system and they gabe me a 5 digit code for my unit and it simply does not work. I have input it 6 times total and the message goes back to "code Wait". Am I missing something? I am not 100% certian that this system is even an alpine as i thought it was a blaupunkt. Anyway, if anyone has any suggestions please post them. I am probably going to pull the system again and bring it to the dealer and have them verify that the code they gave me is correct.

If you imput the code wrong...or the system simply does not accept it... you need to:

1) Pull the both the + and - leads off the battery and short them together for about 2-5 minutes. This will discharge the capacitance stored... and should let you re-enter the code after your reconnect the battery terminals. Be sure to read about how to enter the code properly. On my 1992 model, I think its:

A) Turn the radio on
B) Enter the code numbers and then press code on the OBD. If you are good to go you did it. However, if you hear a "beep" before you finish entering all 5 digits, then start over from the 1st digit. If this does not work.... Leave the battery terminals off overnite, and try again.

.... If that doesn't work, you need to remove the radio from the car and give the serial numbers to the dealer. Then they can give you the right code numbers to enter. I believe the dealer will give you the code numbers for free if you pull the radio out of the car.

Good luck.

They must have given me the wrong code because the serial # I gave was

#bp027319932114 which denotes by the first 2 letters that it is a blaupunkt and they gave me a code for an alpine

i had to turn the ignition to position 2 with the radio on and leave it on for an hour so it would reset itself and accept the code... for some reason disconnecting the battery didn't do it for me.

I bought a 91 535i a few months ago and the previous owner lost the code to the radio.
He told me a local independant mechanic had once worked on it and was able to obtain the code.

I was working on the car one day and an idea hit me - I pulled the radio out and sure enough - someone had the great idea of writing the code on the back of the unit with a black sharpie.
So you might want to check - you might get lucky like I did.

I have also hear that if you enter the code wrong too many times, you need to keep the radio on for about an hour and 15 minutes - then you can enter it correctly.
But I had disconnected my battery for a while and then entered the correct code after I hooked it back up.
