CB Radio-Anyone have one?

I found one in a garage sale a few weeks ago, plugs into cig. lighter, magnetic antenna.
I hooked it up, and my "radio check" worked.
It's stuffed in my trunk, I should probably hook it up for traffic info.
Radar traps don't bother me, I'm usually cruising at about 72MPH or so, they're looking for "bigger game".
Just wondering if anyone uses one.

Last time I used a CB was about 8 years ago on a trip to Panama City Beach, FL. It was good times. 5 guys in a luxury conversion van drunker than drunk (except our driver of course) and on a road trip. We'd keep the truckers laughing all the while. When we got to Nashville we were listening in to a woman who's handle was "Star." She had organized a scavenger hunt for all the boys to come and find her. Whoever found her first would get to have her for the night. The weather was horrible and the traffic was even worse, so listening in to a bunch of horny guys trying to get some poon was absolutely hilarious. I'm pretty sure we all broke just about every FCC regulation there was during that road trip. The radio did come in handy a couple of times though when trying to find out where the "smokeys" were and looking for cheap gas/grub.

I have one in my Global Warmer but when traveling on the interstates, I don't hear much traffic on the radio. ANyone know common Truck Driver frequencies?

I had a pair of CB's for years that we would set up anytime we went camping with more than one family. However, the last time we went, we just used cellphones if we needed to make contact. Most of the noise I hear on a CB isn't what you want kids in the car hearing.

I only use one on those long cross-country drives to Star Wars and Star Trek conventions.

Channels 17 and 19. I dont remember which, I think 19 is just for the I-5 corridor.

Yeah, 19 is what I usually use, but again, its awefully quiet, mind you my antennae range is only about 2 miles.

I bet they're using cell phones more today.

Like they all said Ch 19 is where truckers are and they normally keep post on where the law is. Also very handy for accidents and road construction, so you can find a work around before you get stuck in the 2hr backups.

I have a small unit with a lighter power adapter for quick install. My thouugh antenna is a Wilson 1000 (one of the best on the market, or least used to be, mines over 10yrs old). I used a piece of felt to go between the magnet and the paint finish to protect the car.

Just curious.
It's still in the trunk, I just wonder if all the brake lights ahead of me is a slow down, or something turning into a "parking lot".
I hate to do it, but I think I'm going to, "just in case"
Nah, I'll leave it in trunk and pull over, and hook it up f I need it.
