Could my '05 545i NOT have Bluetooth at all?

Just took delivery of a new ('05) 545i. I'm going through the iDrive menus and am unable to find where to turn on pairing for the BT. In fact, there is nothing about BT anywhere in the menus. I've done some research and understand that it should either be in the Communications menu or the "i" menu under communications, but it's not there.

The car was produced in 02/05. Is it possible that my software needs an upgrade? Or, can someone with an '05 tell me specifically where you see the BT setup option in your menus?

Thanks!

Your car should have Bluetooth. The pairing screen is under the "i" menu and I think its communications settings....

You have Bluetooth...you just aren't very observant! From the main I-Drive menue with the 4 choices, simply push the I-Drive button "up".

Still waiting for my wireless plan to expire so I can upgrade my phone to BT..... so I haven't really looked into it much. During lunch, I checked it out and sure enough, it's in the main I-Drive menu, but you must push up to get to the top menu bar.... then "turn".

BTW... I'm with Verison (better reception in my area)... any recommendations on a phone? I was thinking the Motorola E815.

Actually, I am observant. As is the service advisor at my dealership, as well as two technicians. The four of us "observed" how it's not present. Everyone was baffled because BT is not appearing in the menu as it should. They researched all of their bulletins, etc. and couldn't find an explanation anywhere. They've assured me that the vehicle is wired, although nobody has looked at that, yet. I have an appointment to drop the car off next week so they can get into the programming to investigate it further. Probably just a software upgrade, so I'm curious if anyone else has run into this?

No question your car SHOULD have Bluetooth. Bluetooth is shipped turned on from the factory. This is the first case I´ve heard of an E60 not coming with BT when it should be equipped thusly. I´d guess software fault but keep us posted.

Try this

Try this:

1. Push the i-drive knob from the menu
2. Turn the knob clockwise and select "Communications"
3. Push the knob upwards twice, and Bluetooth will appear.
4. Right click once and press on "Bluetooth"

Any luck?

No, it's not there.. It's not anywhere. I'm anxious to see what they find when I drop it off for service. And curious to know if I'm missing anything else in iDrive.

I disagree with the Verizon comment. I'm quite pleased with my Verizon Bluetooth implementation. I have the Moto v710 (now replaced by the v815, I believe), and it is excellent.

Just got off the phone with the service dept. They've had the car for two days, did a software upgrade yesterday, and still can't figure it out. The Tech submitted a PUMA request (I guess it's a call for help to BMW NA Service) because they don't know how to fix it. I saw the car yesterday and was all wired up to the computer.

I'm drivng a loaner X3, but it's clearly not the same (although it has an awesomely huge sunroof).

Sounds like he made a mistake and went to the ER instead of the BMW dealership.

The same thing happened to me in August with my 2006 525i. Neither the salesman nor the sales manager could find the bluetooth screen (and in Canada there is nothing in the manual about this). I'm sure there wasn't a Bluetooth entry in the iDrive menu.

Finally I tried the "bluetooth" voice command, and it worked! After this point, the bluetooth configuration menu appeared in the iDrive menu.

Well, after a few days in the hospital - my E60 gave birth to a bouncy baby bluetooth. It's up and running, just required some software upgrades that they had to attempt a few times because it wasn't loading correctly.

And, the icing on the cake... It's working with my Blackberry 7290 (except phone book). See this thread I started in Audio...
