For Sale : Andy Basham's STX BMW 330i ZHP

This car finished in 2nd place at the 2005 Solo 2 Nationals… setting the quickest time in STX on day 2 in the dry!! This very well could be your new STX overdog!! ;)

I honestly hate to part with the car, it's been my baby for the last 2 1/2 years. It's been well maintained inside and out. I'm the original owner. I have all the original documentation including when fluids were changed. I'm selling the car because I want to try a different car and/or class next year.

The car came with a strong engine from the factory, putting down 10 HP more to the wheels then any other stock 330i ZHP that I've seen dyno'd (see dyno graph below).

No expense was spared!! I have nearly $65,000 into this car ($45k purchase price + $20k STX mods). I figure you could build one today for about $52,000 ($32k market value + $20k STX mods). Make me an offer (serious offers only, please). If you already own an E46 BMW, I'd consider selling all the STX mods as one package. My email address is [ andybasham at hotmail dot com ]. I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have and willing to work with you on a fair price for the car.

Factory Specifications:

2003 BMW 330i ZHP (VIN : WBAEV53443KM04167)
- Black Sapphire Metallic
- Black Leather Interior with Aluminum Cube Trim
- Performance Package (ZHP)
- Cold Weather Package
- Power Moonroof
- Xenon Headlights
- OEM BMW Alarm
- OEM BMW Universal Receiver (built in garage door opener)

The car has 41,000 miles on it. The car went through proper break-in procedure for the first 1,250 miles. All fluids changed after break-in. The engine oil has been meticulously changed every 5,000 miles (or less) with full synthetic oil. The transmission and differential fluids changed every 20,000 miles with RedLine fluids. The new limited slip differential went through proper break-in procedure for the first 1,000 miles. The diff. fluid was changed after 100 miles and then again after 900 miles. Full documentation showing date, mileage and brand of oils used for all fluid changes since the life of the car. Engine oil, transmission fluid and differential fluid was last changed on 9/4/2005 with RedLine fluids. Brake fluid was just flushed and replaced with ATE Super Blue the same day.

The car was used as a daily driver for the last half of 2003. The car was autox'd regionally and divisionally in B Stock in 2004. The car was autox'd regionally, divisionally and nationally in STX in 2005.

Here is a list of mods along with their purchase price so you can see a break down of what went into the car. All of these parts were purchased brand new and installed in 2005 (Koni shocks and front sway bar were purchased new and installed in 2004).

I am probably stating the obvious but I would guess your best monetary return for it would return it to the car to stock to sell it then sell all the aftermarket stuff seperately. You car will probably sell faster too being close to stock. Selling all the mods is sort of a pain but I did it for my last car and things went pretty fast, I think you can expect about 50% return on the parts. I plan to do the same for my wrx.

Yep, that's my last resort. I'd just hate to see all the hard work and money that I put into the car go to waste. I'd prefer to see someone run the car in STX next year… even if it isn't me. I don't know, we'll see.

Why are you selling? It seems like you got it dialed in pretty well already.
You're not the only one that has asked me that question.

I would like to try a different car and/or class next year, just because I'm always looking for something new/different. I get bored easily. Don't get me wrong, the car is a BLAST to drive, I just want to try something new. I've been leaning toward SCCA Club Racing.

However, if the car doesn't sell I'll either wind up in STX or DSP in it next year.

Haha Andy!! STX 2nd at Nationals? BORED EASILY?? Wow.. I hope someday I can be 2nd top national caliber driver, and say "eh.. I'm bored with this!" lol. DSP Would be interesting, would be great to actually enjoy locals with you, Alex & Garrik! Great luck to you in whatever adventures land your way, great car, great driver, great amount of pride in the vehicle, would you go to an e30 for DSP you think? (now I gotta be nosy!)

Andy,

If you ever decide to sell it close to stock, let me know. Last weekend at Shenandoah the PCA club newsletter editor asked me to find him a nice ZHP... for street/family use only.

BTW, Shenandoah is like a giant autocross course, I think you'd like it. :D

I'll be taking the car back to stock within the next few weeks. I'll be selling the car in stock trim and selling all the mods individually.

adc, send me a PM if your friend is interested. Thanks for the heads up.

Elbert has dibs on the dampers and springs. Send me a PM if you're interested in any of the other stuff. I'll be posting the stuff up for sale within the next few weeks.

The car has been parted out and I'm selling the parts separately (see links below). If interested, send me a PM or email me at andybasham at hotmail dot com. Thanks.
