Anyone taken delivery of a 550 yet?

I'm curious if anyone has taken delivery of their new 550 yet. Mine is due at the VPC on the west coast in about 2 1/2 weeks. I can't wait to hear about the first driving impressions.

My 550i is on a ship and should be in Portland by mid October. Will report on how it compares to my "02 540i six speed.

Hey 550sport....what did you pay for the M sport kit? I've heard the $$ cost is like $4000 ~ $5000. Does it get modified once it arrive at the port or dealer?

M kit is put on at the VPC.

540rich, I ordered the M-aero kit for 3285.00. It will be installed at the VPC when the car arrives mid October.

Oh yeah...we need pics of that!!

Hi, new to this board.

The MSRP of the m-aero kit is around $1,650. I have ordered it for my wife's 550i and so far I am expecting to pay that. Where are you guys getting the $4-5k figures from?

A question for you all. Does the M-aero kit have the cutouts for quad pipes like on the M5, or is it set up for the single set of pipes?

Zona, it needs to be painted....

I understand that it needs to be painted, but the msrp price can't be put up on the BMW USA website of $1,690 without them understanding the parts need to be painted. The only thing that should cost extra on that is the installation of the items.

As of now, my dealer has not quoted me anything over msrp on the kit, plus installation. I will get a definitive from them shortly on total cost and post it.

My wife's 550 is ready for pickup today. Ordered the M aero kit for future installation by dealer and not VPC so I can keep the original bumpers. Dealer installed cost was $2850.00

does it cost that much to have it properly painted and installed?

Has anyone taken delivery of a 5 series with M Aero kit? If so, could you please, please, pleeeeeze post photos of what the rear apron looks like? I'm just dying to know!

just ordered mine yesterday - fully loaded with everything. silver gray metallic w/gray interior and anthracite wood.

yeah, i'd love to see it as well. i tried to find pics of the aero kit prior to ordering but was unsuccessful. the dealerships couldn't even give me info.

i feel like i'm rolling the dice on it but i can't imagine it will be anything less the fantastic.

There is a pic of a 5 fitted with the Aero kit in the 2006 brochure, towards the back. The car also has the 20" wheels that are offered on the 760i, looks quite good, except that they are a PITA to clean.

The aero kit is also shown in the commercial that fetaures flamingo's. That is a Euro sport model, that comes with the style 135M wheels.

You can also see aero kit pics on the website, but none from the back. I'd love to know if it has an M5 style rear apron or if they did something different.

I would be interested in knowing this too. My dealer quoted $3850 for the Aero Kit. If you have something otherwise, and post it, I can take it and ask my dealer why he quoted me the price he did.

Here's a link to a guy's sweet ride with the m-aero kit and the 19" M-style 101 wheels.

The rear is very different from that on the actual M5.

The front, while it looks the same, is a two piece style front to allow access to the foglights. The M5 is a one piece front. Looks the same though.
