To exhaust or not to exhast, that is the question...

I am currently considering upgradeing the exhaust in my 325iS. It's a '95 and I already have a cold air filter and Conforti chip, so I will reap the benefits of the exhaust. The question is what exhaust to go with, and while at it, do I go with the headers and catalytic converter as well. I was thinking of getting the headers, cat, and Scorpion exhaust from BavAuto. Although I am also considering a Supersprint package from BimmerWorld and haven't eliminated the tri-flo from BavAuto. I guess the question is, to maximize the upgrade, do I do a complete stainless steel system from the headers on back, just the from the cat back, the headers and exhaust and keep the original cat? I mean what's the life of these things in the Northeast USA? Also anyone have any experiences with the aforementioned exhausts. I'm leaning towards the Scorpion because I like the 5" oval tip. I am also doing this myself and only crawling under the car once. I'm also open to any suggestions from manufactuers not listed.

I had a Dinan exhaust installed on my 1993 325i in 1994 and it really worked well with the Dinan chip and Autothority CAI. When I was rear ended in 1996, the exhaust was damaged, but thankfully the insurance company was willing to replace it. That was nine years ago and the exhaust is still in good condition. The twin stainless steel tips look good and the tone of the exhaust is a head turner. After my E39 comes off warranty, I will probably order a Dinan exhaust system for it. This is a cat back system and I never failed a NYS emissions inspection.

Hope this helps....JL
