Looks like an E36 Instrument Cluster. Definately not an E46.

What is the problem, all these people buying E36's got you feeling nostalgic?

I miss that car. Except for the brakes, which sucked.

Methinks your strong aversion to sedans and wagons hints at an insecurity on your part. I bet you'd never hold your wife or girlfriend's purse for her either.

No, it isn't wagon, but the AWD bull ****. I'd take a 325i over the lifted ride and multiple open diffs

I wouldn't mind an M5 (any year!) or even an M3/4

edit: and I would hold a purse, I have before and will do it again

oh, and as long as I'm going E36 325i shopping, I would look for a '91 with the LSD option

Or maybe one with aftermarket Quafie. Though, a 328i would be more desirable in this case

No offense to anyone, but you couldn't pay me to take a Xi or XiT. The monster truck ride height and multiple open diffs plus no true sport suspension all kill it for me.

Andt I would take any 6-cylinder E36 over any corresponding DBW throttle E46.

Valid statement, but some of us got the xi/xiT so it can be a better alternative to a SUV. Safe travel in inclement weather, etc. I have no desire to off road or get 12 mpg so I figured the xiT was a good fit for my family.

I will eventually add another "driving" car to the stable but the xiT will remain for those times when I need space or ability to drive in the snow. No comment on DBW.

Even the quasi-DBW ones?

Actually, the DBW with Dynamic Drive on M3, M5, and new Z4 is pretty good; I would imagine that you wouldn't mind it.

No offense to your choice (choices ARE personal), but I would have selected an Audi A4 Avant w/SP over an XiT. The Audi has a superior AWD system and a true sport suspension and it costs less.

I checked the Audi out prepurchase but I liked the look of the BMW better and the RWD bias for normal driving.

The AWD is only really needed a handful times a year around here, and to be honest I would have skipped it but my work commute is a nightmare on those few days.

No offense taken

Had it been my choice alone, I would have gone for iT instead of the xiT, but it's a compromise vehicle anyway. On the whole, it came a lot closer to fulfilling all of my needs/wants than anything else out there at the time.
