New Bimmer Owner

Hi every one
I am a long time Human, first time BMW owner. I just got a 2002 530i sports package about 2 weeks ago, and the car is a dream to drive, it has just 39,500 miles and got it for a good deal after looking up the price in NADA and KBB. I have a few questions, the car is still under waranty till 05/06, what is the average price of an extended waranty and also am I still covered under the BMW full maintenance, what does that consist of and ho much will it cost me if I have to pay out of pocket for the maintenance. Was that the one going for 22k? If so I must say you got a GREAT deal on it. Honestly extended warranty in my experiences are a waste of $. If you really want a warranty get a CPO warranty from the dealer. Good luck and happy motoring.

I agree that extended warranty is a waste of money (and can be a source of aggravation when they refuse to cover some failure). I think you should put some of that extended warranty purchase money away for the inevitable failure that will happen down the road, but spend the rest on doing more than just the recommended maintenance (as many others do):

- Change your oil twice as often as the BMW recommended interval of ~15k miles
- Change your power steering reservior fluid every oil change
- Change your transmission and differential fluids every ~30k miles
