About 145 for me in my convertible.

I was rather disappointed with the pulling power at that speed. My 6er has piss poor pulling power from 100 mph on up.

I guess I can forgive it, since it is a convertible, and I have more fun cruising around at less than 50mph.

It sucks not to have additional HP to extend it prowess! Driving with SMG (Convertible) is nice though. I voted for the >120mph. You are the risky one, 145mph-WHOA!

Wink

I drove in Germany at an "indicated" 160 mph, but probably 155 mph...max speed for approximately 2 1/2 hours. That's how long the full tank of gas lasted! I had a Navy Lieutenant with me, and he was astounded, as was I. On another occasion, my wife came to visit me in the hospital at Bad Homburg and I had asked her to bring the 6 so I could see it. She had never driven it before. When she came in the room, we talked for a bit and she went on about how neat the 6 was to drive, and what a presence it had on the autobahn, as she was driving to the hospital. She said she was only doing a hundred and thirty and “everyone got out of my way!” I said, “My love you were doing 130 mph, not 130 kph!” This is such a magnificent machine…It rocks and I love it! HooHah.

255km/h and then the lame limiter kicked in I'm thinking of chipping it with the Upsolute software (366hp/462Nm) this week and hopefully it will remove the damn thing. If there was no limiter i felt it could do 270km/h without any stress at all.

Just got back from the Nordschliefe, and the 650ci SMG worked to perfection. I now know why manufactures test prototype cars at the Nordschliefe. Brother... one lap in the Ring you will check-off every conceivable aspect of road challenges a car may encouter.

BMW Build a solid machine in the 6er, the car made me a better driver than I really am and they ought to be commented for that.

On a separate note, my car was an attention magnet People are peaking thru window and taking pictures with it. There doesn't seem to be much 6ers around and that maybe the reason why. Even the BMW Test driver introduce himself to me and ask if I was the owner of the neu 650 and strike up an conversation with me. My point is... if you have a low profile personality and don't enjoy socializing w/ strangers. DON'T GET A 6er

cheers,

beewang

It's even worse when you have a 6er that's not a neutral tone.

Be Proud of Your 645 Coupe/Vert

Hello My Friends:

You are right. This thing is eye catcher every place it enters. I have die hard Mercedes fans who want the 6er. The 6er is truly one of the best Ultimate Driving Machines out there, no doubt about it.

I am glad to have this 6er. I will take the performance drive this December in S.C.

Just wondering, has anyone taken their's?

Not me!! Go as fast as you can man. Didn't we all buy BMWs for the driving experience? The faster you can go down a city street, or highway, legally or not, without killing anybody, the more HP to you!!

I agree the part of "drive as far as you can" to the extend that you do it on the track. Doing the speed above 3 digit on public highway and gloat about it makes you look like a complete idiot. Speed Kills, and you need to kill yourself in a place where others won't be.

Pops,
Are you serious about the gear and RPM thing??

If so ...

Gear: 6th
RPM: HTF would I know??... I am busy griping the steering wheel and trying to snap a picture shot at speed of 130 ~ 155 Stop and think about it!! Does the term "white knuckles" and "full concentration" mean anything to you?? At these speeds, what was at the horizon will be in your face very quickly.

1, Stop calling me Pops!
2. You showed me how you drive, with one hand on the wheel and the other hand on the Starbucks, so I just assumed . . .

right on man, we didnt buy BMW's to drive them like they are Toyota camrys.
i came thru kettleman hills in a new 05 760i hitting 125 in that one final down hill eastbound curve west of I-5 and it was incredible, even my timid passenger said it just felt right. granted this was very late at night, no traffic and we didnt even cross the center line. incredible car, incredible V-12 engine. got rid of the S500.
