M3 Club Racer update

Hi All -

Been working a little on the new car (Sept. & Oct. were busy race months)

Got most of the new livery on and most of the interior stripped out, getting ready to go to the cage shop. Livery design by myself and The HACK and vinyl done by Modern Image in Huntington Beach.

Stuff to go on the car coming in so far is AFE intake, Big Brake pedal from GSM, LEDA coilovers, Eibach front springs, TC Kline rear springs, I believe the tow hooks are from TC Design (I'll check that) and Ralph has some headers that I'll check on the brand as well.

Test fitting some BBS 10" wheels on the front with 285//30x18 Yokos and some Pagid brake pads will be on the way.

I tried - I really did want to keep the car stock class, but just could not (in any reasonable amount of time) find someone with a black leatherette interior from a coupe that would do any kind of decent swap.

As soon as I was ready to just sell the interior stuff outright, I had a buyer within what seemed like 15 minutes. And Ralph already has lots of go fast stuff for prepared class, so this time, it just make economic sense (in getting the project completed) to go prepared. Maybe the next car can be stock class.

So anyway, I've committed to H-Prepared and already have most of the stuff stripped out down to the front cross bar under the dash. We're going to see if we can get that one out and replace it with our own bar right in the same location. Should make the cage come out nice and clean if we do - we won't have a cross bar right above the driver's legs.

Thanks - until the printed vinyl got on the car for real (and not just some concept in my head), I was really worried that it might come out cheesy looking. But it passed the initial test when a few of the other club racers came over to the house to check it out and they thought it was

Cool. I can't even tell what's vinyl and what's paint? What's the base color of the car? red ,black or white?

BTW, when you were going for H stock why was it important to get leatherette coupe seats?

The base car is Imola Red. The idea with the livery design was 2 fold - provide a simple color scheme that would be recognizable on the track at distance (the white car with the multicolor checker flags just looks like a white car on the track) and instead of clear bra or rock guard, provide protection for the car - that's why the nose and all the lower edges of the car are black.

For stock class, I didn't want to hack and slice up a perfectly good leather interior or have a bunch of partial parts left over.

I wasn't worried so much about the graphic design or Modern Image's ability to lay the vinyl - just whether the whole thing would come out anything like what I had in my mind - and I think it did.

So the white is also vinyl or just the black?

The white is vinyl and went on first




At this point, the rear bumper still is not done, but we'll get that in December - that will have the final touch (courtesy of design by HACK )

The HACK will be our official BIMMERFEST Graphic Engineer...

Updates - back from the cage shop! Now, off to the vinyl place and then the cage/interior painter

Mock up of the rear wing to be. M-Builder is working on this thing for the car

What is the front made out of. From the pictures it looks like it has funny, fan-shapped patterns. Can you explain that? Is it a work in progress, finger prints from mounting?

What material is it?
