Pre-september build with MP3????

Can anyone else out there confirm MP3 cd playback with pre-septmeber build cars? And if so what software version do you have? This is for iDrive.

I far as I can tell,

The latest CIP version the dealer is installing is 19.2.

However, I think there is a newer version that is installed in the 650's because their MP3 player is working.

You know you have at least version 19.2 if "The Lawyer Screen" automatically disappears after a few seconds. You no longer have to press the controller after starting the car each time.

So the real question is what version of CIP do the 650's come with? 19.2? 20.x?

Regardless, the bummer in all of this is ONLY the in-dash CD is even capable of playing MP3's, the CD changer will never regardless of software version.

intersting about the lawyer screen, let me check that out. Mine was updated last Wed/thurs so it is fresh, I hope it is the latest. I did not get the printout yet, dealer is mailing it to me.

Nope... my lawyer screen still requires me to click through. I am pissed now if I do not have the latest software, considering my car was there for 2 days and needed to be connected to Germany.....
I also lost the signal strength for the BMW assist, Maybe I can convince them the software is messed up again in a few weeks..... hmmm maybe I will just wait until everything is verified to work then rock the update.

If you search this board for "19.2" you will find a few users who have this version and no lawyer screen.

BMW did a good job hiding the version from us, no way to tell which version is running, YET! however, we may stumble across a combination button command eventually.

I got this from dealer today.
Current version is 19.23. Version CIP 20 supposed to be out in December and have been told this fixes MP3 problems (or at least the Pro Navi problem but hopefully a few others mentioned here as well) . Since December is big holiday time in Europe could slip to Jan
Ask your dealer for CIP 20 and see if you get same story.

Is there a way to find out out the CIP version on a car?

I got my car in June and it plays CDs with MP3s perfectly. The only issue I have is that it won't show all the songs on a DVD with MP3s
