Long Delay In Assembly Finish Quality Control?

According to the BMW Customer Relations Rep, my 330I has been in Assembly Finish Quality Control since 11/22. He agreed that it seemed like an inordinate long time. Does anyone understand this process? Should I be concerned?

Ask the rep to look into why.

Long Delay

I did ask the rep and he could not find any reason which is why I asked this forum. I hoped someone had experienced this or had inside knowledge on that process.

To OP, do ask CA to pull the VIR per VIN/production number. VIR contains the latest info of the car. Very likely the car is already on the boat heading to the US.

Think they chose your car for a few laps around the ring. Every 10,000th car gets this treatment as part of quality control.

Delay

Haha, no luck. CA checking into this as well. He sent an email and made calls to BMW yesterday and has not heard back. The car has been sitting at assembly finish quality control since 11/22. My luck :-/

I could imagine several different possible reasons for a car to be stuck near the end of the line. Delay at the port, outdated tracking info, waiting for a part, etc. A new car bought off the lot may well have been delayed on the production line too. My suggestion would be to just relax. You will get a nice new car from BMW - honest.

That is a good point. There have been reports of MSport steering wheels being in short supply and some people being given other steering wheels and the dealer/BMW having to do a very expensive subsequent replacement.

So...maybe they are again short of MSport steering wheels (if your order has the MSport package) and holding the car there until they get more in. (I know I just ended the sentence in a proposition but as Sir Winston Churchill once said: "This is the kind of errant nonsense up with which I shall not put").
