October '05 3 Series Sales Report

Total 3 Series sales were up a heady 23.0% this month when compared to last October. Sales of the new E90 3 Series now comprise most of the sales as the new E90s were 84.2% of this month’s total sales. In spite of the success of the new 3 Series model YTD sales for the first 10 months of 2005 were down 3.4% when compared to the same period of last year. Production of the 325xi, 330xi, and 325xiT models started in September and BMW reported the first sales of the E90 325xi and 330xi models and the E91 325xiT model this month. As I indicated in last month’s report BMW NA failed to report any sales of the xi models last month but corrected the figures this month. I will update the September sales figures to reflect the correction by BMW NA.

For comparison, Mercedes Benz sold only 4,625 C Class units this month, down 2.6% from the 4,748 units sold in October, 2004. YTD sales of the C Class were down 15.0% for the first 10 months of 2005.

Please note that I only report the United States sales data.
