Opening / closing windows while car is off - battery concerns

Pardon my ignorance if this has been answered elsewhere but I did try to search and could not find anything similar. I have owned a 2012 328i in the past and recall that when I used to turn the engine off while sitting in the car, I was able to open / close the windows several minutes after turning off the engine (two presses to completely turn off). Unfortunately that car got totaled and I bought a used 2014 328i xD to replace it. I had to fly out of country immediately after buying it so it was in the garage for a month. I didn't get to play around with it much but am noticing that once I turn the car off, I can only open / close the windows for a few seconds. I am concerned if the battery is running out of juice and whether this is normal. Can someone please shed light on this or provide additional info?

Thanks!

I think this is normal. Could be a security thing, but they should know if the door was opened or not and if not, then let the windows still work.

Thanks. Any concern regarding leaving car in a garage for a month? Not sure why my previous car (also F30 but 2 years older) allowed me to operate the windows well after the car had been turned off.

This only works for a few minutes. I have sat in the car taking a long phone call and then find that I can no longer operate the window controls. Same with bluetooth. The bluetooth keeps working with the car turned off for a few minutes and it stops. Probably 10-15 min or so. So I don't think you should be concerned about battery drain.

If you open the door, even if you later close it, the window controls won't work with the car turned off.

Another option if you're concerned about battery drain would be to drop your car off with me. I will drive it everyday.
