Question Daytime Running Lights (need help)

Hello All,

I just picked up my almost new (5000 miles) Z3 2002 2.5 and need some help. I live in Canada but purchased my car in NY and am in need of a daytime running light module to comply to our regulations before I can get my car registered. Can anyone direct me to someone who sells them.

Thank you,
Dan

I imported a M Coupe from the US also.

I added a set of fog lights that would always be on when the ignition is on....that was good enough for the feds.

Check out Rons Webpage here

I replace the module on mine and the lights work great. I imported a M roadster last month. The lights look great when they are on low power.

I did it to my M coupe earlier this year...not that hard to do...you do need the DRL module from BMw or wherever you can find though

let me know if you have trouble I can help you out if need to be...the steps in unofficialBMW are NOT all necessary...

Great Response!

Thank's to all who responded to my request, I now have a module on order and the instructions to install it. If anyone else has any advice or experiences to share about getting the car certified in Canada I would welcome your input.

Hi Dan,

Just saw your note on activating DRL for a 2002 Z3. I recently bought a 2002 Z3 2.5 in Michigan and broght it back to the Ottawa area. The previous owner asked his BMW dealer to activate the DRL to help me out. The DRL's worked for a week and now have quit. I have the invoice for the work and the tech spent about an hour doing re-wiring, and there is no mention of replacing the high beam relay. How did your replacement work? Did you do it yourself? Do the tail light and dash light come on with the DRL? Do you still have the Z3 and how do you like it?

Thanks,
Terry

I imported a Z4 from Florida in October and the US dealer was able to activate the DRL through a software change to the car. I don't know if that is possible with the Z3. If it is, make sure that they activate the entire headlamp bulb; my Z4 only has the iris around the lamp lit (Its the US version of DRL). Its enough for the Feds (Canadian Tire) but I would have preferred the full lamp to be lit.
