Question Factory M Coupe/Roadster Rim exchange under warranty?

I was at an event this past weekend here in Northern VA ( Shout out to the National Capital BMWCCA Chapter..) and was chatting it up with a fellow M Coupe owner. He recently was able to get the dealer to replace his rims due to "discoloration". He was telling me that he was put on to this by another Z3M'r that had done the same. Seems that there might be an unwritten problem with the wheels coating and making enough noise can get you new ones. I recently spent about an hour on just one of mine ( I just got my 99 M Coupe in July an have yet to give it a good going over! ) trying to clean up what I thought was brake dust. I had little effect on the little nocks and crannies and the overall clearcoat seems cloudy and well..... Discolored!

Anyone with a like tale?

replcement has been met with limited success...does not hurt to try...but go full force from day one. Talk to the service manager, them ask to talk to the area rep if he is clueless.

Get backup from others who have had them replaced and go from there.

Is this on the '98-00 finish or the '01-02 finish or both?

Common problem & the best way & most obvious answer is to ask your comrade where & who he spoke too & follow his tactics & make sure you have a good plan of attack as had been previously mentioned.

Good luck!

BUMP . . .

HaqDeluxe -

How does your story end? Were you able to find other stories to back your's up? Did you try to get replacements?

Unhappy

Not much progress has been made. I have gently felt my way around my local dealer for waht reaction I might get. It appears I will have to launch a full frontal assualt and keep pounding away if I want anything to come of this.. I update this when i make a move..
