E34 dashboard light

On my 1992 525it, the light behind only the gas gauge is out (all other dash lights are working). Is this a simple bulb replacement (to the extent that anything involving a BMW dashboard can be simple) or is there more involved. Thanks in advance.

Yes, it's only the bulb which needs to be replaced.

I have the same proble. Just didnt find the time to replace the bulb.

There are 2 screws in the top of the cockpit. Screw them out and you can pull your cockpit towards your steeringwheel. When you turn the cockpit so the fuelgauge gets in front, you can see behind the cockpit.
There are multiple bulbs behind the cockpit, but only 3 of them are a larger size. The 1 behind the fuelcauge needs to be replaced.

There is an article there for an E32 but I think it is similar for the E34, I would recommend replacing them all just so you don't have to go through that again for a while....

It is not nessary to take the weheel f, allthough it would work easier.

And yes, it works the same as an E32. Even the cockpits are the same.

And yes again, replacing them all is very good tip.

To all who responded, thank you. It turns out that the connection for that bulb on the printed circuit board is burned out. The dealer informs me that the cost of a new board is $900 plus labor and recommends that I live with it the way it is. A smart suggestion!

Bummer man, I see gauge clusters every once-in-a-while on eBay as well......

That's a bummer indeed!!

But what Road Carver said, they come across ebay.
Just search for a second hand.
Or let a friend, who's hobby is electronics take a look at it.
Maybe he can fix it?
