E36 oil pan replacement

I have a '95 318ic which had a very bad oil leak coming from a crack in the oil pan. I was going to replace it myself but i am in school and work a full time job at the same time. So, I took it to a local garage and they replaced it along with a few other things i needed replaced and the garage closed down while in the middle of figuring out why it was still leaking oil after they replaced it. The owner left town and his main mechanic quit and stole a bunch of money, so they just closed shop leaving me with a fudged up job not knowing what they did wrong!!! Now it sounds like the oil pump is not pumping oil to the upper cylinders. I drove it in the driveway and the oil light started to come on. Does anyone know if the oil pump has to be messed with while changing the oil pan? I am going to take it to another garage and hope they can figure it out.

I moved your question to the E36 3 series forum. If you think there is something wrong with the oil pump do not drive the car or you will toast the motor, if you haven't already.

Replacing the oil pan does not interfere with your pump, the only thing that could have happened was interference with the oil pick up.
Maybe he did not reinstall it or maybe the gasket is broken so it is sucking in air.

According to the bently manual the mechanic would have to raise the engine, remove the crossmember etc etc. Not an easy job. My concern would be he tried to half ass it, not raised the engine high enough and damaged the oil pickup line. As Tim said do not drive the car.

Yes! I think it was half assed big time! The throughout bearing went out to begin with and i had bought a clutch kit and i think they only replaced the throughout bearing and not the pressure plate and clutch. The only thing good that came out of it was they didnt charge me because they were shut down for nonpayment of taxes! (Just finding this out) and couldnt accept payment for any services! But now I have a fudged up car!
