5 days.. 1 speeding ticket

It happened too soon.. I only had me car here for 5 days now... I got cought today doing "82mph" on a 65mph highway ... I was going with the flow and this car is so smooth I could have sworn I was going 60 ...

I was on the 210 east bound right before the 118 at 10:00AM.. Who is NOT going 80s there ????

Good thing that he didn't got me 10 mins earlier when I cought myself at 100mph (the speed limit warning is but now I will have it down from 100 to 80 )

The irony is, the officer that got me is the same officer who got me 5 months ago doing "82mph" in the same spot in my wife's Pacifica !! My trial date with him is next Frioday .. I hope he doesn't show up, or if he does then don't put 1 and 1 together

That's the danger with these cars, they're just so smooth and well powered it's actually hard NOT to go over 65 all the time!

Chances are he won't recognize you. How many people does he pull over? Apparently so many that he uses the same speed reading for all of them.

Unless you stood out on that day (if you made a smartass comment or something), I don't think he is going to recognize you.

You should've reversed the process - ticket in Europe or Egypt, not in the U.S. I think several B'festers managed to accomplish this in the past week or so.

I think one thing that might have cought his attention is that I don't have front plates and I do have EU plates in the back

I told him that I did not get my plates yet, he said OK but you are NOT ALLOWED to have the EU plates in the back !! He said that the paper dealer plates are OK but not "those" plates... smart

I did not do anything special to catch his attention.. But my name is hard to miss though (My first name is Shady, almost always catches attention)

Radar detectors are illegal in Virginia and another east coast state that I can't remember the name.

Where/why do you think Radar Detectors are illegal in Cal??

Hmm ... is that true? I'm keeping both my front and rear ED plates on at least until I get my CA plates. Would be good to know if it's really not permitted so as to have a good cover story if I'm pulled over.

Most of the tourists here that get pulled over for speeding eventually don't even get the ticket at all....

they are kinda laze here in holland so they don't even bother to send the ticket out of europe.

Too much trouble for em....

Every reference I can find says they are only "illegal" in Virginia and DC.

Have always wondered why someone in VA doesn't fight it all the way to a higher court. How it can be illegal to have a passive receiver of a certain rf frequency seems hard to understand.

On the other hand, the government ignores the parts of the constitution they don't like

Anyway, regarding the V1, I have two of them - Texas DPS has recently started using "POP" units, which older V1s can't protect against (nor can other makes as far as I know). I just sent my old one in on their upgrade deal and they sent me a new one.

Will be picking up my new M3 next week, so maybe will get a chance to see if it works!

I don't know how this get to my head but I lived in California for 14 years and all this time I think that radars are illigal.
