Scam?? Nanny Thinking of Buying "Reimported" 2002 325CiC for $5K

IS THIS A SCAM, AS I THINK IT IS?

My daughter's Nanny has gotten the bug. She wants a Bimmer too. For some reason, the Durango hemi is no longer good enough for her.

But I think she's heading for a problem. She was on cars.com and found some guy in England with a 2002 325Cic, who claims it's a US model, which he imported there (because of a divorce), and now wants to reimport here because he can't get it registered there. He wants her to send him $5000 via Bidpay for the car (with $2000 down and the balance on delivery).

I feel very strongly that this is a scam. Does anyone on this Board have any experience? As is typical of a scammer, the seller is pressuring her to buy the car from him (which, alone, makes me suspicious).

Please help me advise her. (I think she would like a second opinion as she probably feels that I am an old fuddy duddy.)

Whoops. Sorry. I put this in the wrong place. Can admin move to the general thread, please?

I would be very skeptical and unwillingly to put any money down on a car I can't see in person first.

Sounds very similar to the scam described in this thread.

Scam. She should find a car within driving distance.

Scam

Okay. I read the e-mails from this guy and of course it's a scam. I inputted a sentence with strange spelling on and I found the letter has been making the rounds for years, many different selling sites, many different third parties to "hold" the money (Bidpay, WU, etc.) and many different cars. All at a price too good to be true

Like this sentence: "I will not negociate the price." Or this one: "I want this transaction to go smoothly enough as I am caught in the middle of some very important events and have little time at my disposal."

Best of all, my daughter's nanny is now convinced, too. Thanks for all the help from the 6er forum.

(Anybody out there got a reliable, cheap Bimmer for my daughter's nanny?)
