E63 / E64 6 Series (2003 - 2013)
The E63/E64 BMW 6 Series builds on BMW's sporty heritage with aggressive lines and an incredible motor to back the design up. Available in coupe and convertible trims with a standard 4.8 liter engine producing 360 horsepower and 360 lb-ft of torque, the 6-series is a popular choice that exceeds expectations.

BMW: Birth of a Sports Car

I just caught an interesting documentary on the complete design process of the e63/e64 on the Speed Channel. Pretty interesting, it looks like they got some good access to the design process. It appears on the Speed Channel that this the first part of a three part series with "Testing" appearing on Sun, Dec. 18 and "Production" airing on Sun, Dec 25. Set those Tivos.

Here is a link to the show on the Speed Channel website: http://www.speedtv.com/programs/417/

I missed all but the last 20 minutes of episode 1. If anyone can encode it for download, that would be great.

If it weren't a copyright violation (sadly, it is) I'd be in. (Remember Napster?) Maybe we can convince BMWNA to allow us to buy it. Anyone out there at BMW listening?

Maybe if one of us gets arrested for copyright infringement, BMW will get a clue and release it for sale.

Whoever owns the copyright will just sue all the DVD buyers and get their cars in damages.

Or someone can just post the video for download at no profit. I don't think they would bother in that case.

man you guys gotta be kidding

can we just get the DVD happening through PM Jeez.

Like cackling hens, we'll never move forward on this with all this negative bantor, lets spend the energy on making this happen, not tearing it down with fantastic penitentiary folklore.

Some of you guys are absolutely incredible with your input. It's like walking through mollases trying to get anything done around here.

If you don't feel cozy getting a copy then just stay quiet, theres no need to spoil anyone elses parade with the dark raincloud.

With all due respect I think the last place to be discussing a conspiracy to violate federal copyright law is on a public forum. I don't think it's "negativity" to remind people that what they propose to do is a violation of the law. And the proposal to distribute the DVD free doesn't make it any less a copyright violation (though it may decrease the amount of the fine).

Why don't we simply write to BMW and ask the company if we can get a copy? If BMW is going to let us have the performance driving course I would think this would not be too big a deal.

If a thing is worth doing, it is worth doing right.

I agree. If we are going to steal it, we should have a better plan.

Private PM's will due.

The bottom line is all we need is Part 1. Part 2 and 3 are being aired Dec. 18 and 25.

Sidenote: I really wish they would give this damn DVD with the car instead of that lame "how do I turn on the radio" Dvd.

I dont think letting board members see a copy of version episode #1

constitutes a violation of fedeal trade laws. no one is profitting from this grandiose scheme. When I said pay for it, I meant blank DVD's, shipping and handling.

And hey, if I get busted for letting a fellow board member see a free television program (not a feature unreleased film) they can lead me away in cuffs.

so now anyways, PM me if you have #1 please.

I got a DVD from BMW that covers the history and design legacy of the BMW 6 series, including technology, design, performance, etc.

Came in the mail about 2 weeks ago.

I got a 6 Series DVD in the mail a few weeks ago (can't remember if it was UPS or USPS).

It is a DVD welcoming me to the 6 Series and has chapters for various aspects like technology, performance, history, design, etc. Shows all kinds of good stuff. I got it in the mail at the same time I got my invitation to the 6 Series Performance Driving school.

Southern6er - How long was it between the time you bought your car and got the invite and DVD? Can you tell us who produced the DVD and how long it is?

Phunkfarm - if this turns out to be the DVD, since I have taped the series I will send you mine (unless the former owner of your car sends you his, which I doubt), and no one will violate US copyright laws. OK?

Malibu, I'll post the information tomorrow for ya. I'll even try to get a screen shot.

BMW has even sent me a leather-bound book on the history of the 6 and has a lot of the same info as the DVD, but it also has an art gallery section with lots of beautiful shots of the 6er and such.

Guess I'm on BMW's good side for now.
