Experts: Please help me value my Dinan S3 540 for sale

Hi guys,
I need help coming up with a reasonable market value for my car so I thought I would ask the experts. I have a modified showcar which I would like to sell but have no idea how much it is worth. It is a 1997 Dinan S3 540 which started out as a fully loaded 540 costing nearly 60k and now has an extra 90k of modifications which have been done to it. Here are the modifications:

AC Schnitzer rear window spoiler
AC Schnitzer sideskirts
AC Schnitzer rear bumber
AC Schnitzer front bumper
AC Schnitzer side mirrors
clear side markers
clear and red tail lights
OEM Xenon Euro Angel Eyes

AC Schnitzer Pedal Set
AC Schnitzer Dead Pedal
AC Schnitzer E-Brake Handle
AC Schnitzer Aluminum Shift Knob

AC Schnitzer shocks
AC Schnitzer Struts
AC Schnitzer Springs
AC Schnitzer front and rear sway
Dinan Front Strut Tower Brace

AC Schnitzer Exhaust System

Dinan High Flow Air Mass Meter
Dinan Cold Air Intake System
Dinan Fuel Injector Kit
Dinan Stage V Engine Software Management
Dinan Stage II Clutch Kit
Dinan Stage II Balanced Flywheel
Dinan Stage II Ring Gear Adapter
Reman Clutch Plate

DPE Wheels
19x9 front
19x10 rear
New Bridgestone Pole Position SO3 on all four wheels
M5 wheel arch liners

Clarion VRX755-vd Head Unit
Clarion 7" custom headrest monitors
Diamond s500s speakers in doors
Diamond s500s speakers in rear deck
MTX 7500 12" sub x2
Memphis Big Belle Amplifier

The car is in excellent condition and is so fast it is scary! I only have 1 pic of it at work but I will post more when I get home. Please tell me what you guys think it is worth and if any of you are interested please let me know. Thanks a lot for all your help,
Martin

Im not an expert but it would be hard for anyone to spend alot on a car that old, when you mentioned $60k + $90k mods, is that $150k total in the car or $90k including mods.

I also dont know how well Dinan products sell when on the used car, every modded car Ive seen for sale, the mods (never as much mods as yours) never bring no where close to what they originally cost, sorry

What did you have in mind for the actual value of the car, how many miles are on it, if it maybe had 10k miles or something it would be worth alot more.

I didnt mention this to offend but for $90k you can buy a new M5.

Thanks for the reply. I am not offended at all. I know the mods go way down in value and don't expect to get too much back on them. It is a total of $150k spent on the car. I would definitely go for the new M5 if I had 90k!! I am thinking that this car is worth $45k and will probably advertize it at that. It is a one of a kind stunning show car. There are 119k miles on it and all of the modifications started at 90k miles with Dinan. Thanks again for the reply!!

What kind of numbers does you 540I puts out. For $45K you are talking about a 2001 or 2002 M5 price range with half the mileage. Kelly Blue book listed a 97 540I with excellent condition, 100K miles private party for $14,750. $45K is a high IMO unless you can find that special someone. BTW those are some serious modes. Good luck!

When you get time, post some additional pics, if it had low mileage you would have a better chance, maybe better to part the car out, put a feeler out here to see what people may give, start at 1/2 price of mod original cost and Im guessing

Another option is to look for a low mileage newer 540 that you could transfer the mods (if possible) raising the value plus starting again but not putting out so much cash, you already have the mods paid for.... Plus you got the use out of it for 119k miles, unlike me I have a hang up about making a new car a garage queen when I should just drive it. Im doing that to a 2004 325cia (daily driver) but keeping the 06 M3 as a the only queen, in all the E46 cars Ive owned, this will be the first one I drive no matter rain or shine, clean or dirty, Im going to enjoy it, at 119k miles with those mods, you had to enjoy it and thats what a car is for (or so they tell me, hehehehe)

Good luck, post some pics, what are the specs, hp, 0-60, etc?

Thanks for the advice! I can only go by what Dinan quotes as numbers for my car as I have never measured it myself. They say it has 468hp and 450 fp of torque. All I know is that I have kept up with Porsche TTs and a couple Ferrari 360's before. So it is really fast for a sedan. Definitely faster than an M5. (not the new one of course).
Thanks again!!

i would say sell the mods seperate, put car back to stock. maybe leave the suspension on it, just because its a pain to swap out. i think you can definetly get private party value for the car with having your maintenence records.if it truly is a spot less show car and you have every single record, i think you can find that someone who will be interested, just remember its only worth what someone is going to give ya! although if it were me, i would much rather buy a m5 that is stock, lower mileage and hasnt been messed with. ive been down the road with hooking up my cars and putting a lot of money into them...you never ever get it back out. so now ive stopped or know my limit as to what i will put into my car.

Thanks guys for all your input. Here are some more pictures of my car. I am going to list it at $39995. I will just have to see what happens. I know another supercharged 540 just sold for 32k with half the mods that I have so I think I am being reasonable. I have all the service records for the car. I feel that it would be too expensive to remove the mods and part them out. The Dinan s3 package is over 30k alone and a lot of it is little nuts and bolts and relocating stock parts to make room for the new stuff. Putting it all back to normal might not be a good idea financially. If anyone else has any input I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks, Martin

U2fanatic, looks nice. This is a car that will have to be seen.. find out about local car shows and put some vinyl lettering on the windows (not obnoxious letters, just a nice FOR SALE, inquire XXX-XXX-XXXX).

I've had best luck selling my cars in parking lots with high in-and-out-traffic.. Home Depot, Tweeter, Best Buy etc.. get people looking, touching.. etc.

Also, you maybe able to make up some of the loss by parting out with the wheels, etc etc separately... I know a number of guys who would like the DPEs!

Good luck! Be patient.

I like the car- the modifications look tasteful and I think you should have no problem finding a buyer. I agree with above posts- put in in high visibility and advertise it where Bimmer enthusiasts will see it. I also suggest listing the car on ebay, scheduling the auction to end on the eve of dec 26th. You never know, someone may have gotten a bmw allowance for christmas. As a side note- I noticed the custom plate on your vehicle. I have to ask, hope you don't mind, what do you do for a living? Being a starving artist with expensive taste, I am always on the lookout for an opportunity. You wouldn't happen to be a well to do record exec looking for unsigned talent from the midwest would you? Hey- it doesn't hurt to ask. Also, I am curious what do you want to drive now?

One place that ocassionally has cars like yours advertised is Autoweek. I have seen a couple of Dinan 450 hp 540's but don't know if they actually sold
