wait list

Is anyone on an "official" wait list at their dealer yet? My dealer says they don't have one but I want to call him back and pester him to make one so that I'm on top.

What's the chances of me doing ED on the M3 and getting it right at beginning? I'll pay MSRP of course...

I'm #9 at my dealer (Rasmussen, Portland). Put down $500 on 10/6/05, in writing at MSRP. One thing I like about my dealer is they never charge over list. Go out of your area if you have to,. If your dealer won't state your status in writing, something's fishy. You conldn't do ED on the E46 M3 at the start.

I am #6 on my dealers list (Autobahn BMW, Ft Worth), and have been on it for about 6 weeks. They wanted $1k down. The great thing is that the first 4 people are waiting on the verts, so I am actually #2

Actually unless you have a production number, you are where the dealer wants you to be. If someone comes in and offers $10K over MSRP, you WILL be bumped down.

I guess it depends on the integrity of the dealer. Mine does not sell over MSRP (AFIK), gives you your place on the list when you sign, and will show you where you stand at any time. I'm sure all dealers are not so forthirght.

And if someone comes in offering extra moeny, you will not "move" on teh list, but car may be sold to a non-list person.

Dealers are there to make money. And offer them enough and they will go for it.

But yes, there might be one or two that will stick by the list no matter what. But very few, IMO.

And BTW, getting on the list now means they have $1000 of your money, at no interest for 2+ years. Not a bad deal itself. Their floorplan costs (interest on cars on the lot) is something like 3/4% per month.

You best be leasing these things. The V8 will be a chopped V10 from what I have read. New engines from BMW are notorious for issues. Don't plan on the first year being a keeper.

Find another dealer! I went on my dealer's waiting list 6 months ago. No problem, just had to put down a $500 refundable deposit. And my dealer never charges above MSRP.

Anyone in the Bay area on a wait list? Spoke to two dealers recently, one wants a 5K deposit and says has about 25 on the list already, the other wants 10K and a 10K mark up on MSRP? Thinking if I am willing to pay 10K over MSRP I should be able to offset any wait list (not that I would even consider that)!

I'm just entered on the list - can't wait - put down a deposit for it.

I'm #1 at BMW of Eugene (Oregon). Since I have bought 7 new BMWs from them in the last 10 years, they don't even ask me for a deposit. Also I have yet to be charged MSRP....it's always Invoice + $not saying. They are a fine organization.
