Hartge front lip vs. U.S. license plate holder

Looks like the license plate holder is in a way of the Hartge front lip (I am not 100% sure, since the license plate holder would have to go on top of the Hartge middle piece).

What would you do if you were me?

1. Order European style license plate holder middle piece or no plate middle piece, install the add-on and risk being pulled over by cops for missing front license plate

or

2. Modify the existing holder or the middle piece of Hartge lip to make it fit

I see you got it in !, i say i would go with the option one, or call www.auto-mark.com and find out if they have a speacial plate holder. Since they are the distributor for HArtge.

man I told you. You can go to the dealer and ask for the plate removal moulding. It is the center molding alone and eliminates the front plate. There is no need to cut the center molding and modify it to eliminate the plate. If you are worried about legality issues then I can assure you have a european plate up front is just as bad as having no plate.

I agree how did it go. I just ordered mine from Seattle BMW and should be here late next week. Any ideas on how much it would be to get painted??

hey John, I am in seattle and own a body shop. I can paint the item for you. Price will be fair and paint quality excellent. Did you order the Hartge lip or just the license plate removal strip? what color is your car?

Next week. I needed the car this past week, but not the next. I will drop it off on Tuesday, I think. They quoted me up to $450 for everything.

I just ordered license plate removal strip. But I might be getting a lip soon. My car color is Sterling Gray(472).
How much would you charge for just the molding? Actually I have a minor scratch on the edge of the bumper (3 inches long by 1 inch thick) that I need fixed. Rough quote??

I see that your body man cut short the center peice of the Hartge lip where it would have interefered with the front plate. I would have opted the no-front-plate option but at least you are all legal now

No, he didn't cut it. The center molding with plate holder comes off. Then he installed the Hartge piece and put the plate over it. Without a problem!!!

Where did you get the front lip and how much was it and you really need to upgrade those wheels now it would set it off SOOOOOOOOOOO much better .

You probably want to start a new thread with a descriptive title/question, maybe with a link to this one as reference... this one is pretty old.
