Just got my 05 645ci!
Hi all, well been a long time viewer and was really looking towards a 530i but today purchased my first bmw! Got a 645ci in silver with black leather. Love the car.
Questions for you experts out there. My shifter is illuminated in "P" all the time, even when the car is off...is this right?

Well it will go out when the car goes to sleep. When u get home, go in and mix yourself a nice martini. Relax, in your easy chair and finish off the martini (about 20 minutes). Now sneak up on your car (no key action) and look through the window. Viola! the light is out. Now unlock car or open door and the car wakes up, motors whirr, and light comes on. All is well with the world.

BMW's are notorious for not believing that an owner would actually want to park their BMW and not use it for several hours or perhaps days.
The car cannot believe you have other things to do but drive and will consequently not put the car to sleep until after 20 minutes or so just in case you change your mind.
