what is the latest software update for a 05 645ci?

Hello again. I have a 05 645ci with a build date of 1/05...
how can I tell what version of software I have and what is is the latest software version?

Only your ealer can tell you but he needs car to run diagnostic from CIP update process to be able to tell or some other data he may have at reference your delivery paperwork.

However, your build date is the same as mine and mine was delivered with CIP 15.2

In general I have used the first used date rather than the official SIB Bulletin date.

wow cobradav...thats a great summary. So by looking at that, it looks like the newest is 19.2...is that correct?
Also, I did a history report and there was no recall...how can I get the dealer to do a software upgrade? what is the best thing to say to them?

This is a non-reproducable that 19.02 addresses. It did it one in my car the day I picked it up. However, I took it for service a few weeks later and they upgraded the software.

Here is a list that was real with my 15.2 version.

1) Rough idle within 60 seconds of cold start - sometimes drops below 500 rpm, stumbles and almost dies
2) Associated with rough idle is a sound like valves tapping - quite loud at times
3) After turning Audio to mute at key off, audio will not stay muted when car is restarted - does not matter if key out for 1 minute or 1 day
4) iDrive screen goes blank when in NAV menu and no apparent further contol of functions (pressing iDrive knob)
5) Bluetooth calls from car cut off after five rings even though an answer machine or person has not picked up at receive side.

Always a good one is iDrive reboots all by itself.


Technically the latest CIP is 19.02.03 (not 19.2). BTW, the last two CIP releases had no E60 updates per the TIS release on these versions. That being said, sometimes they fix things that involve just the loading of the software, making it easier to upgrade (less errors during process).

Chuck - Did you vote in your poll that you had an iDrive software problem? My recollection is that you did not. Since you got an upgrade for a fault, I think you should change your vote.

nah, I said no issues in the poll since it only happened once. I was not sure it even happened until I read the service bulletin about it.
