Post An ordering clarification regarding Nav / In-dash CD compatability

One of our members today confirmed in-vivo that the X5 is
the exception to the rule in the MY 2003 Product lineup...

http://www.bimmerfest.com/news-story.php?news_id=24

"The navigation system changed from CD-ROM to DVD technology. This change makes the navigation faster and the map of the entire U.S. in included one one DVD. The in-dash CD player will not be available with the navigation system (with
the X5)".

lomg reply

I've had it a whole 24 hrs. It is my first BMW. I LOVE it . It is so tight and even with the 3.0 liter engine, the thing just wants to jump as soon as I touch the accelerator. I am driving in "whimp mode" (keeping it under 4500 RPM) right now, so in another 1100 miles, I will be able to give my impressions on true pickup. I have the steptronic. It is very smooth in drive mode. I haven't used sport yet. I have not driven a 3 or 5 series enough to comment on the differences. I really like the room for the driver and passenger. I am still learning the Nav, it continues to impress me.
